Hi Peter the mould is painted with acrylic lacquer (not gell coat) it does have a chemical bond with the epoxy, doing a fuse this way you can make it as heavy or light as you like depending on what you are using the plane for. Kev
That is awesome!!! What would be a good reusable Bladder material, or what would be my best approach to getting more information on making bladders for molds. Great videos, and a nice looking mold there!!
Pretty cool - build a plane from the outside in, starting with paint. Is using gelcoat too much cost and bother and possibly weight? Thanks for a great vid, great to watch a seasoned pro.
Hi Kevin, Great work! Great plane. Could you do a video of the mould painting process in a bit more detail, step by step, type of paint, methods to produce a multi colour effect and so on. Very much appreciated, Tristan
Awesome result! Could you please tell me which material was used for making the inflation bladder? Or can you tell me which material for this will be the best nowadays?
Hi smit6089 I am painting on to the wax with auto acrylic, you have to slowly build up the paint with thin coats, put it on to fast it will fish eye. I always paint the dark colours fist and back with white. Kev
Hi, thank you for the great video. I'm looking to try something similar to this and am currently just looking for a supplier near me. I was wonder though about the paint. Are you laying down a gel coat and then painting, or are you painting straight on top of the wax. I don't quite understand your process. Any help would be greatly appreciated because your results are fantastic. Thank you very much!
The fuse comes out at 280 to 300g with the wing ready to fly they are 1.3 to 1.5kg. we fly the Windburner on the slope and for Dynamic Soaring so the weight is not a problem. The guys who do Dynamic Soaring fly the Windburner at 2 to 2.5kg Kev
@@cloudstreets1396 All of the moulds I have made have stuck no matter what mould release I use, I did two pack the plugs in gloss black but now I use automotive acrylic I still get the same glossy finish but when they stick in the mould I can use thinners to dissolve the paint to remove anything that has stuck.
@@windburner1 It's clear, but what tool to do it with? I'm currently working on my first negative form: pfmrc.eu/topic/82410-mosca-mb-bis/page/2/ and I'm trimming the fiber with scissors, but it doesn't come out easily and nicely... Maybe you could post a movie? Nice work! Regards from Poland!
