Hello Alec, i have been following and watching almost every single video you have made since you were at 15,000 subs. If I was not working all the time, i would have more time to watch. You and I have lived very similar lives of working in the shop. I have been moving metal and making knives since i was 16. We are very close in age. However you have a little more skill then I do with a hammer. One day I will meet you. This is the very first time I have ever left a comment on a video ever. I usually stay away from the comment section because many people dont have a whole lot of good things to say. people are much more mature for some reason on you channel. i love it. Thanks man for the amazing edits

Sword technique or Damascus knife is a combination of hard steel and soft steel. Soft steel has a sharp but fragile character. Hard steel has a strong character but is not sharp enough. So this Damascus technique mixes 2 types of steel, which is a sharp and strong knife so that the shape is like a layered and impressed there are 2 types of steel mixed. (The color is not the same) Actually the original Damascus technique is extinct. There is no native descendant who is a Damascus sword craftsman who knows his knowledge. Because this technique was very secretive, the meaning of technology is now competing to find out what Damascus techniques are like ... Just look at this Vidio conventional technique has not been able to make the knife fragile. (In Vidio this knife is still sensitive / fragile.) So it is combined with modern technology to strengthen the physicality of the knife. Though in the past, conventional full techniques without the help of machine technology. That is why the ORIGINAL TECHNIQUE OF DAMASKUS SWORD OR KNIFE MAKING HAS BEEN EXPOSED.

@brendonmoore1619
@brendonmoore1619 7 лет назад
Poparod Cassidy I asked this somewhere else and no one answered. I thought dasmascus being forgewelded together?? would be weaker then a single piece of forged steel. Is this correct?
@kfgrip
@kfgrip 7 лет назад
Strange then as our ancestors made weapons including swords from Damascus and wootz for centuries.If it was not a viable steel for weapons they why was Damascus and wootz reserved only for the upper classes and elite fighters in history?
@martinerhard8447
@martinerhard8447 7 лет назад
Poparod Cassidy it can be used but compared to modern steels it sucks. and why make a heavy duty tool if you have better options. Damascus was not only reserved for the upper class...wootz steel was importet in massiv amounts from india Edit: the original damascus has not much to do with the damascus shown here in the video

Can you make a Damascus Machette. Something light enough that you can swing it all day cutting trails? I do research in Central America, and I don't think I would last 20 minutes with a blade this heavy. Can you make one sharp and light weight?
@shawnyfin
@shawnyfin 6 лет назад
Patrick W .... you may want it to be a little heavy - swing downward, let the weight of the blade do the work. And its good for thicker veg.
