A friend of mine is planning to make this journey there within a year or so, he’s so excited you’d think he was 20 not 70 lol. He wants us to come visit when he gets settled and show us everything.

I visited Israel for 10 days on a birthright trip 8 years ago, and have periodically contemplated moving there. A cousin of mine made Aliyah a few years ago, and she told us that life there is very difficult, and most americans who move there come back within a year or two.

Whether you should exploit your personal privilege of being able to move to a strange land, from which people are being displaced to make room for you... My grandmother made this choice in the 1970s when she came to Israel and heard property developers making fun of the displaced by saying "the donkey was still tied to the orange tree" when they arrived. She died in Uruguay, and never regretted.

Israel has the biggest Jewish community of the world now. A few years ago, the U.S. still had the biggest Jewish community. Great to see so many Jews go to Israel.
U r mistaken. There more Jews in the USA A lots of converts to a REFORM JEWISH Religion by millions. The problem is that the Orthodox Jews institutes in Israel don’t reconsider them them as part of the tribe .
How about trying a more challenging approach? Ask them whether they feel it is just that they have the right to settle in the country but the people who used to live there and were expelled do not have that right.
I know there's people who claim you can't have Jewish ancestry if your white. That's simply not true. They don't consider that there were mixed marriages hundreds to thousands years ago. My French ancestor was likely a Marrano or secret Jew since his last name was Achim and lived in Guyenne France close to Spain. This is now Bordeaux and they had Sephardic Jews forced to flee in the 15th century because of the Spanish Inquisition.

You totally don't get it. The United States was his home, and he is totally grateful for that. So grateful, he felt a duty to serve his adopted country in the military. But it was an ADOPTED country. It was where his Jewish ancestors HAD to go because THEIR homeland was occupied. Now that Israel has been restored as in days of old, he felt the call to return to his ancestral homeland. And believe me, Israel is THE strongest ally of the United States. It's not a slight to the USA at all. He is proud to have served, and now, he is realizing the ancient dream of his ancestors: to return to Aretz Yisarael.

I couldn't stop my tears of Joy for the people's of God His chosen ones!!! Almost 4 years ago I had a dream a voice calling me to go to Israel, I saw myself kneeling down bowing my head to the holy grounds and worshipping God The Father, Jesus The Son and The Holy Spirit. I am not sure why this happened to me I'm not a Jewish or any of my family members is? I been having this drive to learn Hebrew as well. God knows only the purpose of my life as NY I pray that all He has planned for me can become a reality even if is to live, visit or become a missionary for His people in Israel. nothing good comes easily. I made aliyah with my parents when I was 10 from Ukraine. The first years were very hard but eveything was worth doing it. This is where we belong. This country is my country. Would never give up on any obstacle we had along the way if the price would be not living here.
I was in isreal for two weeks for vacation. There was nothing there that didn't keep pace with us... in the United states, when I was in isreal. I truly felt to my bones. Like I was in the United states 200 years ago. circa 1812. At the cusp, of Irish immigration, industrial revolution, westerners expansion, and the rail road. That is the feeling you will get when you visit isreal now. A nation that is at the cusp. Of takeing off locally regional globally.
I was there twice, I didn't get the same feeling although on the surface and below, Israel is hinging on third world and modern world living. No high speed internet (dial up) tiny European cars and huge gas prices, but their trying. They have has some medical break thru's. Very expensive housing, especially in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
I think that only as long as Israel is under threat will the women and girls of Israel enjoy such freedom and will the men and boys of Israel be relatively respectful of them. The more secure Israel becomes the more misogynistic it will become. And all the contributions that women have made to make it a safe place for all of them to live will at the very least me undermined, if not denied, if not forgotten.
