Avanti, Parodi, De Nobili, Petri, and Kentucky Cheroots…these are just some of the cigars made by the Avanti Cigar Co. in Dunmore, Pa. Made exclusively with fire-cured tobaccos grown in Kentucky and Tennessee, these cigars may be of Italian heritage, but each one is proudly Made in the U.S.A. the same way for 100 years. The Famous Smoke Shop Cigar Advisors visited the factory where Avanti and Parodi cigars are made to learn about fire curing Kentucky tobacco and how dry-cured cigars are made - you’ll see the entire process from start to finish. They also review Parodi and Avanti Bourbon cigars. Watch Now, and see just how many hands are involved in producing these rustic, savory-smoking treats.

Parodi was my “go to” in 74. When military pay was low, this fit my budget. I still buy a box occasionally.

These are very similar to their ancestor: the Italian Toscano. I'm italian and I smoke toscanos as well other types of cigar. They are different but I enjoy them as an everyday little cigar. Here, we usually cut them in two and smoke only one half ("ammezzato" style). Cool video guys. Appreciate it.

Thank you, it was a pleasure to spend the day with the fine folks at Avanti and learn about their history and the cigar making process.

I recently picked up a two pack of Toscano longs. Cut it in half and smoked half on the lawn tractor and half later with a hot cup of tea on a brisk fall day. I truly enjoyed it and will look to try some of their other cigars. Great video fellas.

My grandfather used to buy these in a little two-pack. Back in the 1970's they were about two for a quarter or less. I like the Parodi Kings and I think about him every time I light one up. You could get them at any newsstand in PA. He was a gem. Knew a good smoke. They haven't changed in 50 years.

MANY YEARS AGO THESE WERE A GREAT SMOKE, LAST 5 YEARS OR SO I FIND THEM VERY INCONSISTENT, I TALKED WITH AVANTI, SEEM THEY ARE ALL THE SAME CIGAR UNDER DIFFERENT LABELS FOR THAT NOSTALGIA, AND THAT'S REALLY THE REASON I SMOKE THEM A LOT OF THEM, I'LL GO THRU 7 10 IN A DAY JUST DETAILING CAR OR DOIGN SOME YARD WORK. THAT ASIDE, I'VE STARTED SMOKING OTHER BRAND DUE TO THE QUALITY ISSUES, SOME ARE REEEALLLLYYYYY GOOD AS THEY SHOULD BE , AND SOME REALLY ARE HORRIBLE, BUT I'M A LOYAL ITALIAN, I WISH THEY WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE DEDICATED TO THE CUSTOMER. LOVE TO HEAR YOUR TAKE ON THE BRANDING , I'M SMOKING ONE NOW HAVING SOME WHISKEY /AMARETTO

Having grown up on Telegraph hill, back in a day when it was a Italian enclave. The old Italians would sit in Washington Square smoking these short cigars. To be honest they smelled like a burning 💩. However, being a son of the beach, I had to try one. Putting the De Nobili into my mouth gave a flavor that was great. Then I lit it, OMG! That was 1973, this is 2024 and I still smoke then to this day. People tell me they smell like burning 💩 and I tell them you have to be Italian to understand.

I keep them in my humidor at 62rh at a temperature of 65 degrees and as they age and pull some moisture they are a whole different experience.. I’d definitely recommend adding a bit of humidity to your avanti or toscano style cigars..

@user-qh6ru4to2l

I agree. Easy light, perfect burn line, NEVER go out, never canoe, never harsh & very flavorful (caramelized corn & hickory smoke BBQ). You can never go wrong with a Parodi King, which are MUCH more satisfying than the traditional, Italian Toscanos, & MOST handrolleds ....
@ericpensyl5578
@ericpensyl5578 Месяц назад
@@user-qh6ru4to2l they are such an underrated cigar for being as good as they are.. but Iv noticed slowly with more people trying to find cigars at a cheaper price point than their normal cigar and branching out of their norm and actually trying avanti they have been gaining popularity with the premium cigar smokers and their products are being noticed more as a premium cigar than a gas station cigar.. and even in our two small mediocre but decent cigar shops in my area they have begun selling them in their lounge area and I have recently noticed they are adding some to their humidors as well.. although they don’t need humidified in any way they take on a whole new level of flavor and taste if you throw some in your humidor for a few weeks or even just a few days.. but that’s a test you can try on your own and relay the results in future comments lol

Gas station cigars?
@jaredgulick
@jaredgulick 4 года назад
Not exactly. These cigars sit between most machine made and premium cigars. They're 100 percent tobacco (not the HTL leaf that many use). They don't need humidification, so they're popular at retailers that don't have humidors.

If u never had one they tastes and smell like a camp fire. U have to take a long shower to get ride of the smell. If u like heavy smoked meats u might like these, I cant stand them and have about 50 of them. My father smokes them sometimes, hes a Vietnam vet that cant see, hear or smell well LOL!!! Also seperate these from your premos

Cyrus, thanks for your comment. We didn't have this same experience. Cigars by their nature will leave a smell on your clothes. John wrote a great article on how to help rid the cigar smell from them. Here's a link: www.famous-smoke.com/cigaradvisor/5-things-removing-the-smoke-smell-from-your-clothes That being said, especially if they're infused, we'd always recommend keeping them separate.
