Gel printing is so experimental, full of suprises, and sooo addictive! Enjoyed watching you work/play! Love the foam printing plate. I use palette paper or an additional gel plate to mix my paints😊
A ball point pen works very well in scoring the foam. The mark will be a little wider and deeper which creates a clearer design. It gives a smoother feel when creating your design also. I saw it on a video but dont remember where. I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing!
I just scrub it lightly with a soft scrubber. I don't mind a bit of paint on it as long as it hasn't built up and left texture on the brayer. The best think is to get it into water as soon as you use it
any paper would work. I was using the copy paper for work that would be glued into a visual journal. But you can print onto a higher quality paper, a good drawing paper; a 90 lb hot press watercolour paper would print beautifully.
I can't send you images here. I like to integrate them into collages or print right onto mixed media paintings on paper, where I interact with the image with paint.
Instead of using pencil to indent the butchers foam . Why not use an old ballpoint pen this would leave a clearer deeper impression and achieve desired imprint. Margaret
I think if you store them carefully--ie between two sheets of glass or plexiglass, they can last a long time. The ones made with glycerine don't even need to be refrigerated
@@alisonwatt8570 I’ve watched a couple hundred gel plate videos and not heard about a homemade plate you don’t have to refrigerate, even one with glycerin. Or heard of one without glycerin. 🤯 But I learn something new almost every time I watch a gp video. While I’m here, do you mean to call your styrofoam texture plate a “stencil”? If so, would you enlighten me about why? I’m accustomed to thinking of things like the viney botanical stencil as stencils. Thanks for some great new ideas to try and a beautiful color - the teal, yellow ochre and white, contrasted with NAG. Gawjus!
@@alisonwatt8570 It’s a texture plate. If you search online for stencils, you don’t see anything that looks like what you’re calling a “stencil.” You get flat, two dimensional sheets with cut out designs.
