If you don't have pinecones right in your area... look harder! You're probably missing them. Why buy them, when you can make them yourself for nearly free? Make your house smell like Christmas! And... Capri Sun?

It's cool how they closed when you boiled them. 🌳

I wonder if you filled a pressure cooker with cinnamon & pine cones & water then cooked them under pressure for 30 - 60 minutes if you’d get a stronger longer lasting smell?

If you noticed, when you put the pine cones in boiling water, they all closed up again. If you want the pretty flower like pine cones, I suggest you try a different application. One that doesnt require boiling water. I dont know if they open up again once they dry out? Anyone have some input on that?

I've seen where some people put them in the oven, on a very low temperature, to help dry them out faster. But, idk? How long did it take them to dry after simmering them in cinnamon, and taking them out of the bag? I l❤ve this idea!
@MixmatchedButIntact
@MixmatchedButIntact 2 года назад
That is a great idea! I actually kept them in the bag until we were ready to have company over. I was worried about the permanence of the smell. They held up fairly well, though. The one thing that I wish I'd done was sprinkle cinnamon in the folds of the pinecones so that it would stay inside once the pinecones closed during the boiling process. -Becca

All I have to do is step out I to my yard. I can get you all the pine 😊cones anyone could ask for! Funny story. When my kids were little, we had a pot bellied pig that lived in the house we had decided one Christmas to make Cinnamon hard candy. It was so strong that the pig went crazy! She started running all over the house and then wanted outside. She jumped in her swimming pool and rolled around. I guess the cinnamon was so strong it was burning her eyes and nose. I felt bad but it was funny as all get out!

How much cinnamon was used and how long were the pinecones in the water?

Shown around the 2 minute mark exactly how much. You boil them for roughly 5-10 minutes, but let them sit in the pot for an extra hour.

I watched another video on how to dry them out, and get rid of the sap, and you have to bake them in the oven on a foil covered baking sheet for 30 mins at 225*, turning them at 15 mins. THEN they will open up!

@@karengurklis9034 Y la savia también desaparece? Es muy incómodo cuando una piña está llena de savia, tan pegajosa, así que me interesa saber si al hornear las piñas se elimina esa savia. Gracias ☺️
