Watch as hay is made by the Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster County, PA. Whether by horse or by tractor hay making in summer time is as American as apple pie and the aroma is just as enticing.
Love this. Takes me back many years when I was a young dude working for area farmers in the summers and weekends. I have thrown thousands of bales in my day but we had to pick them up off the ground and throw them up on the truck, then load them into the barn from there. These boys are earning their money. Nothing easy about this work. That is a great shot of the little one sitting on the wagon as dad (?) stacks.
Thing is, they mow with a tractor obviously, so why not get another tractor & pull the baler with that ? You have to feed the horses , i would think that is more expensive than maintenance on a tractor 🤔 I grew up south of Rockfalls,Illinois on a dairy farm we lived about a mile from some Amish, they are great people.
