The next step is 2 weeks away but we're at least a month from bottling. If at all possible I'd like to make some way to store these as well.

Aww the milk jug reminds of picking blackberries as a kid. They’re in abundance in the foothills

Same here! However the bungee cord was a new invention haha My grandmother, Ivy's namesake, taught me everything I know about pretty much everything and it was her that cut up milk jugs for us to use.

It might just be my small pool of people, but I've met more people that could use a drink than I have those who shouldn't have one.

Our neighbor told us to come pick their elderberries. But we had our hands full with these! Maybe next year.

It is a favourite time of year for me to pick so much free harvest here in the UK. Sloes for Sloe gin, or any kind of liqueur you care to make. Blackberries,. Rose hips. Hazelnuts. Field mushrooms. Food and drink possibles all over the place.

I've made a couple batches using 100% juice from the store. It came out great. Now I want to get ahold of some berries. Would be more fun and much cheaper.

For the most part that works pretty well! I can remember as a young kid putting some bread yeast in Kool-Aid lol! Not sure if it worked or not because it was pretty much undrinkable lol

Interesting that they are called "choke cherries" there 🤔 I live in the Blue ridge and here they are two very different things - our "choke cherries" have Big Pitts (& kinda bitter) but are the "wild cherries" and grow on big trees while the olives grow on bushes - not trying to not pick just thought it was interesting 😁 no matter what you call it I've used um before and I think you will be pleasantly surprised 🤙🤟💚 it can be a bit astringent depending on when the berries were picked and how the ferment goes - can't wait to see how it turns out!!! 🍻😎💚
@SteepintheWoods
@SteepintheWoods Год назад
If by Blue ridge you mean the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee , Virginia or Kentucky. Then you're looking at it! Lol But what "something's called" is a relative term.. - 9 out of 10 people won't know what the thing is to begin with so for common terminology you're at most getting that information from 10% of the people you meet. We prefer to call things by their proper terms. By next year I hope to have enough free time to start making plant identification videos. Proper identification as it should be done is an intense process!
@bartcubbins3528
@bartcubbins3528 Год назад
@@SteepintheWoods oh I hear you about that whole common vs "Proper" thing 🙄 I try but I grew up with the plants not learning their Latin name.... It's all relative as long as we can communicate 🤙🤟💚😎 ("central" VA ;) Much Love to you and your family!!! 💚
