The maple leaf in the window is a great touch. Growing up we got syrup in metal cans in the 70's and 80's seems like they are all but gone now. The sight glass tube for the tank level is simple and effective. Very nice sugar house
Hello Joe !! MAPLE SYRUP!! just frigin MINT !! i aint made any since my grandpa passed away God bless him. Love the vid-yah Joe... keep ANY vid-yahs coming hot n heavy brother !! Much love and respect from ol' West Gardiner Maine ol' boy !!!
Hey joe and Donnie !! Great video buddy is so so knowledgeable he don’t give himself enough credit you can see he truly does love it that be a dream sugar house !!
Joe... you were right... LOVE IT. What an upgrade. That boil rate is incredible and I'm sure that blower is key. Love the mirrors setup by the pots there too...great idea to watch for boil overs! I watched the past videos you'd had last year too...such a great sugarhouse setup. I was thinking of going with a 2x4 upgrade, but this 2x6 might be worth the little extra. Hoping to expand my taps up to 100 next season in 2025. I'm in Ohio Amish country... all amish...haha... I buy my axes from the Smyrna, Maine amish actually.
I have to agree with Wayne. It is a labor of love. I just set up a smoky lake dauntless and i love it. Have made 6 gallons so far. Been boiling on homemade evap for years. Like the new one way better. Love your vids
You folks are sure enjoying yourself , love it Very nice set up , with everything We have a small 500 tap sugar bush and sugar house out our camp in the northern Mt’s of VT. We have a lot of family good times. Nice video
Yup, a lot of work goes into that liquid gold. A week ago, it was flowing real quick up north here in Northeastern Ontario but now a cold front moved in thus week so slowing things down. I don't have any maple trees to tap so like you, I just have friends who do it and I buy it off them.
Great video, we also boil with a Smoky Lake 2X5 evaporator; it works flawlessly. Question, did you build the sugar shack? Would you happen to have buildings plans? Thank you!
Nice video Joe ! You should come and see my friends sugar house on East B Hill outside of Andover. He has around 15000 taps on pipe lines running right to the house. Would love to give you a tour of it sometime.
If you want to burn less wood, it’s better to run the chimney at maximum 600-650 otherwise the heat get out by the chimney. You should control your ventilator with a speed controller and a draft control in the chimney. From your neighbors to the north Quebec, hope you had a good season I have my best season so far we don’t know where to put the sap
Great video very fun to watch. Question, I am being told that my syrup has to be 66 1/2 brix and you I believe said 58? Why the difference just curious. Thanks again. Fred
