Love this, braids smallpox is basically greed hate tribal. All of these cards shut down tron-esque decks that are looking for very fast wins off one or two things.

I'm such a sucker for a deck that makes good use of Flagstones of Trolkair

I think I figured out Seth’s biggest weakness. When looking at the board state he asks “how do we lose from here” instead of asking “how do we win?”

This is the kind of deck that makes me think that the Modern meta is too hyper-focused on "fast, value-y deck that tries to do cheap, powerful stuff"... and then Braids comes down, and they feel sad. Hey, Seth... if you ever want to try out some off-kilter Modern attrition pieces, I'd like to suggest Spelltithe Enforcer (3/3 Elephant Wizard for 3WW, makes your opponent cast {1} or sacrifice a permanent whenever they cast a spell) and World Queller (4/4 Avatar for 3WW, each player sacrifices a permanent of the type of your choice on your upkeep). They're pretty expensive to play fairly, but I feel like they could be back-breaking to cheat out early.

43:13 Technically they need TWO lands after Smallpox - one more for the fourth mana and one more to discard to retrace - but there’s still a better chance they hit more lands than you hit land destruction.

I've loved Braids ever since I opened one back when Odyssey came out. It's always nice to see her doing her thing.

man, I love smallpox. I think Seth might actually be underestimating the value of just T2 smallpox even without a flagstones, if your opponent has a creature; it's a clean 3 for 2, and your deck likely has a lot more lands than they do anyways

wow I have almost all of these cards and this actually looks legit. might pick up a couple more fetid heath, flagstones and bloodghasts and put it together.

Fantastic deck, great to see it finish with such a strong record. Perhaps some incidental lifegain would have helped the list, especially against the Calibrated Blast deck

If i had a nickle for every time march being an instant came up i would have some serious cash. People play prismatic ending and never seem to understand that being a sorcery is a huge detriment.

man, this deck is what I was looking for, with is another way to annoy people with(I play e/g tron), I already own most of land based and some main cards so building it in paper wont be that expensive, thx for great content

I love Braids so much, I've been on a kick of "why is she banned in commander?!" This has reminded me why she's banned in commander. Edit: But at the same time, Urza is legal. I take it all back, let's just use social pressure and unban Braids!

So at about 17:40 you were worried about chord for yag. Which, if you were playing in paper, would be a worry. But wall of roots has been bugged on mtgo since TWENTY-SIXTEEN, and cannot be tapped for chord and have it's mana ability be activated at the same time. So they could only chord for 3 with the current board.

Hey seth. Can you revisit some old decks that you haven't upgraded in a long time like 5 or 6 years? Since alot of new sets came out so that means new cards to make those old deck lists alot better because I want to see you to revisit tutelage turbo fog for modern

WotC should print a Monkey Pox card that does the exact same thing as Smallpox, but only costs R.

Why only Inquisition and not Thoughtseize instead? Wouldve mattered against the combo deck. Is the 2 life that important for the deck?

awesome run Seth! do you think is possibile to improve the brew? you never made good use of the green mana which costs life and consistency. green mana used for grist (we could remove 2 grist for 1 more braids and 1 kaya mainboard) and the 4 convergence sorcery, and we could use vanishing verse or sort of. kaya's guile seems nice too. maybe also adding another copy of the filter land to support BB spells when you hit multiple trokiars. what do you think? i vote for a re run of this btw, have a nice day!

I'm out of the loop and curious, does anyone have the list for that combo tron deck? It looks like it's mainly just mystic forge shenanigans but we didn't get to see much of the deck so I'm curious what its end goal is.

All you needed for Calibrated blast was Leyline in the sideboard. Finding space is the issue. I only ever run three in the side because it's a negligible percentage running one more and I don't mull past five to get it anyways but mull to fours are risky as it is to win with I have done it tho lol.

If Im not mistaken, the opponent couldnt perform the Yawg combo with Eldritch Evolution because he needed to sac the wall to search for the Yawg. He cannot search for Yawg by sacrificing birds.

Free Braids! Chromatic Star helps fixing mana for Smallpox and at least gets a card back if you just sac it to Braids

Who is Abzan? Is that the original pilot of this deck or something? Where'd the name come from? Just curious otherwise it is just a Braids deck.

Yeah I just lost to a smallpox deck last night and I honestly don't think I've ever beaten a smallpox deck. That cards absurd and I hate it lol but I'd rather lose to it than busted combo decks.
