I just love watching you on RU-vid Gaz. You are so enthusiastic without being ridiculous. Background music enhances rather than detracts, and you speak at just the right speed and in a friendly conversational tone that is easy to listen to. It goes without saying the food looks wonderful.
Unable to describe in words how watching this video made me feel. The calm composure of both of these gentlemen while putting together this magical steak & salad is just mind blowing! wow, my heart is content.
When I was a younger chef I used to recommend cooking books by G. Ramsay or J.Oliver to my commis...Now 5 years into veganism and I recommend both of you to anyone starting the vegan journey
I made this tonight for dinner. These mushrooms are eyelids closed/eyes rolled into the back of my head/Mmmmmmm-delicious! I served them with oven-fried truffle and rosemary flavored potato crisps and roasted onions, kale, and asparagus. Fantastic!
Eridin Ironboar Slowly??? Have u seen Gaz vid on why he went vegan overnight, vegetarians r just vegans waiting to happen.2Vids4u The truth about dairy by doc Neal Barnard & The best speech u will ever hear by Gary Yourosky 👍🏻5&10 min vegan meals by d Happy Pear 4lazy days
@@ceolbeats7182 I have some serious health issues and have been advised that it's dangerous for me to make fast changes in diet without watching my intake very closely. I already dont eat dairy because of lactose intolerance. So thank you for shaming. Not really, piss off
Eridin Ironboar Dear of u😘 I'm so glad ur on the right track, not a slacker as previously thought😂👏🏽👏🏿Not on dairy yah, I can not imagine any conditions that requires the intake of dead animals 🤔so check out doc Neal Barnard & Doc Michael Greger on your conditions, for a quick recovery I op, & chill!!! No1 shaming 😂😂
@@ceolbeats7182 that's not what I stated. Due to my immune disorder I have to be wary of rapid diet change as my gut biome will not be able to adapt quickly enough. This has caused me to be bedridden for weeks once before when I attempted it for the first time. It has to be slow so that the bacteria in my stomach can adapt to feeding I'm the new conditions I will be putting it under. I have an incredibly low BMI for my height (6'4") and only 3-5% body fat at the best of times. I can become malnourished very quickly.
Check your local Chinese owned grocery: you'll find oyster mushrooms (though often, broken up). I use them in vegan Thai Tom Yum soup, but if you find King Oysters, they naturally have a fleshy grain and can be sliced, marinated and used in stir fries much like sliced beef sirloin.
@@mrrandom8050 "But Vegans don't like meat" Not necessarily. Most vegans ate meat before they became vegan and really loved the taste of it, like the two gentlemen in this video. They didn't become vegan because they suddenly hated the taste of meat, but because they didn't like the cruelty that comes with its production. To them it's important that they have some tasty alternatives.
@@leung9401 opposite for me. Stopped eating meat because the quality is noticeably shit in my country. The animals being slaughtered doesn't bother me.
This is so incredible- all plants! I feel that these ingredients/recipes might change some meat eaters to give vegan food a try. Thank you both, Gaz and Derek!
They do look amazing, I kinda want to buy iron skillets now. Also thank you for letting space for your host to actually take part in your video, you're not constantly cutting him off, it's nice and appreciated because actually rare.
Wow. Absolutely fantastic! Those mushrooms look amazing. And that slaw! Definitely a recipe to check out . I really enjoyed watching this collab with you and Derek. Thanks for sharing this epic recipe Gaz! 👍👏👏
I just love this, the tranquility and love in this video and your channel Gaz is pure amazing. It is like floating on clouds.😍😊 you have a true gift. I just wish kindness and happiness to you.
what a fantastic mashup! It is great to see you guys together in the kitchen. I have made Derek's pressed Mushroom steaks before and they are stunning . Gaz I will definately be trying your cola bbq sauce to go with next time, and the slaw too if i can find some golden beetroot. that looked lush. Thank you both.
Wish I could attach a picture. We just made these mushrooms tonight. We paired with sides of "Cowboy Caviar" and marinated fried kelp noodles. We fried the noodles in the mushroom pan with a bit of chopped onion and garlic in avo oil. Ooh la la! What an amazing dinner. My daughter swears I finally learned how to cook once we went vegan! Thanks so much for your show. If you are ever in Fresno CA feel free to stop in and chillax.
Thank you so much for your channel and what you do! I have transitioned to Vegan over night, literally because of finding you and watching Gary's video as well that you introduced to me. So glad you have showed some great alternatives !!!
That was flippin AWESOME! OMG! The two of you together creating, cooking EPIC!!!!!!! Those mushrooms are like you both said are "game changing" thank you both so so much for your creativity and your amazing skills! Thank you for your activism👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼! ❤️Kathy and Doug
thank you for what you are doing and making veganism accessible. i have been watching your videos before i switched and it's because of channels like yours I got the confidence to be able to do so. your skills and the quality of your dishes is what first caught my eye as someone who loves food/cooking and what started my change in perspective of a vegan diet. essentially, you and a few others here on YT are what got the ball rolling for me. just wanted to let you know that what you're doing is so important and is much appreciated
Omg as I was watching this video, I was thinking the exact same thing as you were talking about - no supermarkets sell them like that... I was a bit sad, because it looked really good. Lo and behold, the next day I went shopping, and found them as a special "the shopkeeper recommends" item! Of course I had to try this recipe right away - and it was soooo delicious! :D
Hey guys. You guys made this look so good, as a weekend meat eater I went and bought a case of oyster mushrooms just to try this. I have to say I just made this. Amazing! Didn’t have the ingredients to add coleslaw but I can’t taste how they would work perfect together. I did make a burro banana mash instead. Gonna make this for my wife. Thanks guys!
I don't know if you'll read this but will you please make a video on healthy savory breakfasts? I'm so tired of avocado toast and everything else I see is sweet. Thanks!!
Personaly i recently made a sandwich with whole wheat bread, vegan chocolate spread? and frozen berries it tastes like jam when you grill the bread, it's so good but maybe too sugary for a breakfast
I've just recently come across this wicked technique and I'm so excited to try it ASAP. Looks mouthwateringly delicious, and mushrooms are my absolute favourite 😊
I'm a long term vegan and am always looking for new recipies. I've cooked lots of mushrooms over the years but never like you've done in this video. I am very keen to try this now, all I need is to find the right mushrooms.
Gentlemen, I'm not a vegan woman, but this meal right here has me seriously considering the change. Thanks for sharing this collab. I will give both recipes a go this week. Following both your channels now. Have a great week.
While I have no interest in going completely vegan I do appreciate the number of ideas that stem from this and will definitely try to use them. This subscription was well earned.
Thank you Gaz for the hard work you share here! When I saw this video, I finaly had the desire to cook mushroom (as it's usually an ingredient I don't really like and prefer anything without) I just tried it tonight as I saw some of these mushrooms in my usual (french) mall. I used what I had, nothing fancy or bought on purpose (a classic pan and a plate to squish, some tomatoe sauce with already some seasoning, and some vinegar and sweeet soja sauce as I didn't have coke nor fume sauce), and it sure did the trick! Thank you again for all the inspiration you provide o/
Oh man! a collaboration from two of my favorite chefs is mind blowing. I was truly excited to see the both of you sharing the camera. I hope this isn't the last time we the both of you in the same kitchen.
ORIGINAL TRANSCRIPT Derek: Yeah, just submerge the whole thing. Gaz: (Grunt) You know what I feel?... I don't wanna... hurt your mushroom... Derek: Just be gentle with the mushroom.
Phenomenal gourmet vegan food guys!!! I can't wait to try making some version of this! I'd probably make it less sweet, but it is SO inspiring, thank you!!!
I missed this sort of cooking. I live for these types of videos. I remember seeing this guy on a different video somewhere on the web, because I remember seeing the mushrooms pressed with a pan. After that, I think I looked up the cookbook, and it’s on my Amazon wish list. I can’t wait to try this; I always wanted to have meaty mushrooms. I love them anyway, but I want to see how else they can be enjoyed. Thanks for this video. It made my inner cooking student jump for joy!
@@alfredknubble1958 LOL yeah, this guy knows what's up. No reason at all. Climate change is a lie, the studies proving meat is carcinogenic and causes heart disease is fake news, and animals aren't sentient. Nailed it. Another anonymous loser with no picture, a fake name, and no channel content, shit-posting nonsense. I wouldn't be surprised if "Alfred Knubble" was part of a botnet paid for by the animal agriculture industry, spreading this garbage around.
I'm not vegan either but I'm willing to try this dish. This was awesome! I love cooking. I think veganism is safe when you have a chef mentality. Stay away from vegan convenience and put some effort in your health. These guys look healthy and really enjoy what they do. Love it!
I'm not a vegan but I really appreciate this channel. I can't stand vegan channels who constantly trash talk and protest meat eaters. If you really want to make a change you do it by setting an example. This is pure positive energy. Cheers
This Looks so good. Tbh this is a dish i would prefer to Order in a Restaurant. Never seen oyster mushrooms which are not torn apart in german Supermarkts as well
this is gonna sound weird, but have you had scottish porridge made with pinhead oatmeal where you soak it overnight? (it's not overnight oats or porridge oats) that has a killer texture too, and i'm going to try kibbled wheat again
Not sure how this appeared on my feed, but as a "meat-a-tariuan", I'd say this looks absolutely amazing! Although, I've never seen, nor heard of, this type of mushroom. I'm very interested, so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm also interested in the knowledge of how to cultivate it myself. Thank you!
