Replaying the game on series x . 60fps locked, no loading screens……it’s a joy to play. The art direction is excellent. And the action and enemy AI is top. Better than most shooters today
Now compare that to Starfield. Great game, alot of potencial for modders, but man, 30fps locked, loading screen simulator. In 2023. The brains of bethesda sure aren't the more tech savy compared to Id. I mean, Id has Carmack, but even so.
@@MiguelBaptista1981Starfield is the game that has finally made me decide that I just don’t like Bethesda games anymore. In fact, the only game I’ve ever liked of their’s was Fallout 3 which was FAR from a perfect game. Not only that but it wasn’t even their original IP.
Only thing I would ask for now is the higher uncompressed textures and mega texture. Modders could put it back in with maybe a better compression scheme.
@@shayneoneill1506 PS3 suffered with constant resolution drops making the visuals variate from stunning to absolute trash in a matter of seconds. On the good side, you have a perfect 60fps through the whole game.
I loved this game so damn much! Though I do disagree with the ending. I was so disappointed to hear that RAGE 2 didn't follow on from this one, that's why I didn't buy it. If it was remastered I wouldn't hesitate buying it again
It felt like the game was meant to have expansions. Hesitant to call it DLC because I mean a proper expansion. There seemed to be a lot of places boarded up and closed off that was meant to be explored in the future.
@@MegaElitePredatorI bought that. It felt really short but don't even remember if I finished all the new quests. Not going to complain about extra content if the price is right but was a little underwhelming.
I thought the first half of RAGE was great, solid shooting and art style. Just needed a little more care to be considered one of the greats. I played and finished it on Xbox 360. For 60fps this game looked amazing for the most part.
The first RAGE was so much better than the sequel. It's like they looked at the source material and just decided they wanted to crap on all of it. I still play the first one sometimes.
Other than some awful forks of id tech 5 like the "STEM engine" for Evil Within 1 and 2, or the void engine for Dishonored 2. Both have and still have optimization problems. Evil Within 2 more than the others (low GPU utillization). ID Tech 5 was pretty cool. I think Wolf the new order is one of the best examples of the engine. Virtual texturing did make sense at the time with the 360 only having 512MB of unified memory and the PS3 having a split memory pool of 512MB (256MB of system memory, 256MB of GDDR3). But I'm def glad they finally pulled the megatexture stuff out of the engine with id tech 7. It's just not needed anymore and has way to many limitations.
Nice to see a little love for this game in the comments, I thought it was pretty cool, rage 2 was a ton of fun but that first game had something about it I can’t quite articulate. I just like it, animations and body physics and bullet response look great still.
RAGE still looks good and plays fantastic even on Xbox 360 (60fps!) This game is from 2011 (!) Remaster/Remake would be AWESOME! At the moment you can buy the main game +Anarchy Edition upgrade for $5 (!) in the Xbox Store!
@@erikouwehand You're right! It has no resolution boost, the false info was given to me by someone on the "Xbox Tester" channel who said it now runs at 1440p. But that is not the case.
Saying the game was the best looking console game when Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, God of War 3, Crysis 2 were out or coming out was a bold claim. For 60fps, it might have been one of the best looking but not the best for 60 or even 30fps.
People thought it was going to be the next Fallout or something...I remember picking this up for 10 bucks just months after release. Its a fun shooter with minor open world elements to it, so yeah its worth picking up but dont expect to much.
People loved shitting all over this game when it came out… but truth is, it was a well made, fun as hell, FPS game with great graphics. Did it do anything that new? No but neither did Quake.
The foliage billboards were so bad it almost ruined the game for me. The game looks and plays amazing but then you see a "tree" that is see through and always turning your way like the dead enemies in the original doom even when you walk close to it and this was after Crysis came out. The guy that decided on that tree textures needs to be talked to...
Thank you for putting this together! I remember somewhere I found segements of this but I always said "Why can't they just put it into one video so I can play it non-stop as I work on stuff?" Thank you!
The tech was way before its time...the only issue with the game was the faux open world and the combat was repetitive. Monster animations were amazing!
@@alexsilva28 idk I always found rage 2 ...not using id tech to be kinda boring... if they remade rage in id tech 6 or something would be cool or go back to ids engine.
i only had a couple beef with this game. one of them was the car multiplayer. way to eff it up, id! the second thing was the final boss of the game is missing. they talk about this tyrant like you're going to shoot him but he never shows up.
Exactly lmao. I bought a ton of plasma and BFG ammo expecting some massive boss fight but you only fight a dozen or so mutants and the game unceremoniously ends. Wouldn't be surprised if it was cut
This game is broken. Cant shoot while the enemy is still animating from the last hit. Hitdetection is broken. Animation stutters. All broken. Yet its the game i played the mist on my PC 😂 Needs a remaster with a ton of fixes.
Rage would have been better without the vehicles and if it had a good multiplayer mode. I would have loved to have deathmatch in the "mad max" setting.
Was so hyped for this game back in the day. Was so let down by how short it was and honestly felt like I was playing a DLC game. Part of a bigger story I never got to play.
the sad was it felt like a 2008 game but released in 2011. If only it was released that year, or the one we got was more polished it could be one of the greatest FPS of decade
I'm playing Rage 2 right now, never played the first one but the second definitely has some fast action and an open design. The main story is kind of bare but the gameplay, especially once you start getting your various "nano power" abilities, is so fun and fluid that I don't really care about the thin main story. There are also a number of sidequests available via talking to characters in the world, as well as text logs you can read left by others, so it does still flesh things out somewhat
Tbh I found Rage so-so, I was pissed at the lack of story, 10 minutes after waking up you get a weapon and are asked to shoot people (WTF??), where is the introduction etc. But very impressive technical framework indeed, and I ended up taking a lot of artistic screenshots of the game. And thanks for posting!
@@apictureoffunction Well 2016 is the 5th installment of a franchise in which the main guy is known for shooting first, asking never. Rage isn't Doom and the story felt incredibly rushed and underdeveloped
Lol Ikr? You also literally get conscripted into a rebellion before any of them bother to tell you why they are fighting the Authority. -Hey, I just met you and this is crazy but I need you to infiltrate a prison and rescue out leader
@@alexsilva28 Presumable echoes of John Carmack's _"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."_
@@alexsilva28 Exactly - Unlike Doom with its close combat loop, Rage is an open world with exploration, there's a lot of untapped story potential left lying around. It's like saying graphics don't matter as the gameplay is the core of any game - yes, but good graphics - or a good story - will make a game so much more engaging - including any Doom game, in my view.
Rage 2 is awesome but whoever coded everything regarding the icarus vehicle must be the biggest noob ever. What a complete failure. Can't even say it requires skill to fly, it's just made like a piece of digital rubbish.
they claim to be the creators of FPS games, BUT THEY ARE NOT. FPS WERE ALREADY EXISTING WAY BEFORE THEY CREATED DOOM, QUAKE AND WOLFENSTEIN 👇come on people, you know that this is true
@@AndrewMaksymBrainNectar True, I've been watching some Doom making ofs and they have been enjoyable. Check out the channel Gvmers if you haven't already, they have good video game documentaries.
