Making Quads and Mistakes | Poker Vlog #1

You're already doing something right if RU-vid recommended your first Vlog to my feed. Welcome to the algorithm! I've really enjoyed the efforts you've already made in the video editing. The card graphics look great and they really stick out from other's poker Vlogs. Personally, I always like to see more video footage of the poker room itself, but I know that it may not be easy to record that depending on the property. I just think that it'll add more to those "walk-in" montages more interesting. Either way, keep up the great work!

Good luck on your new adventure. I would suggest part of making it easier on the viewer: Have chip stacks for you and opponent always on screen. Always include running pot size. Look at Jaman and/or Brad Owen vids. They're content is very well put out there for folks to understand.

Solid first vlog. Nice work. I hope you keep it up. This was good, solid poker content - I'll always watch videos of that. There was one hand when you had 9d8d and I had to make the video full screen on a computer to tell what your cards were - I imagine it would be much worse for people watching on their phones. I could tell which face cards were which - just some numbers were super hard to see.

Glad to see another vlogger out there doing their thing! Wish you all the luck! Once suggestion i'd make is that you put the effective stack sizes in as well. Definetely need that info. I do like your analysis though and you play really well. I'll definetely be watching them all.

Keep crushing! 👊🏼💥 ** I wouldn’t show bluff hands to players like the J9cc other than to close personal friends / contacts I have that banter with….. ***first hand/ 44 almost always a bet on that flop ; but with the quads river, the check may have worked well 😆💯💯

Enjoyed your first vlog! Only comments I would have are that I could barely see your card graphics. They’re really small. Also, I would recommend seeing if you can increase the pacing of the video explanations. At least in comparison to other vloggers out there I felt like it was a bit slow. If I put the RU-vid playback on 1.25x speed it was pretty good. Looking forward to future Vlogs!

Hello Jenny. Thanks for sharing. One hand that I think you could've played better is the 98dd hand. I think that when you get raised holding the 9 high flush on the turn out of position you can just fold. One could even argue for a flop fold facing so much action. I think you are trying to get yourself coolered as played.

Congrats on just starting SOMETHING! I've had so many ideas about channels I'd like to try and there is always an excuse not to (time, equipment, etc.). Even if it doesn't work out in the long run, making the first video is easily the hardest and YOU DID IT! Best of luck!

Generally speaking, if your opponent still has hands like Suited Connectors, Suited Broadways, and TT+ in range then *raise* with AQo to deny equity and get value from folds. Just fold if your opponent's range is heavily AK and QQ+ after their raise, AQo is a lot about finding out where you are pre-flop so you know if an A or Q is good post-flop, so calling doesn't help you want to narrow your opponent's range so you don't get taken to value town.

Keep crushing, both editing and playing is hard. Once the channel is growing, you can do it like Mariano or rampage and hire someone for the editing stuff, good luck for poker and RU-vid!

I'd like hear more about your decision making process. What hands are you putting your opponents on and why. How does stack depth affet your decisions, etc. Would love to see more of your Vlogs so I'd like to see you give it a shot.

Very very good job on the first vlog. I certainly hope there will more as I really enjoyed your analysis of the hands. Only suggestion I would make is having the cards bigger, maybe mentioning how much you are buying in for at the start of the session, and possibly starting stack size for each hand of note. Those are just minor things in the grand scheme of things. Once again congratulations and very well deserved.

Hey Jenny, great first blog, hopefully you'll make another one! Can I just ask if you don't mind disclosing, how you manage to stay in the States to play poker Visa wise from Australia?! I'm from the UK, travel fulltime working remotely, and usually head over to Vegas for a couple of months just to play poker a couple times a year in between. I always get the full interrogation at customs everytime and they genuinely hate letting me in the Country it seems! Admittedly I did once overstay my 3 month visa to keep playing poker, but it was just as bad even before then haha. I'm fairly sure I couldn't just stay there longer to play poker tho?

A very nice short and sweet vlog. If you use bigger cards and cards that actually have the Pips on it, it makes it easier to follow and understand what's going on

Good job on your first vlog. Small suggestion for you. The little thumbnail that shows your whole cards on the bottom left-hand corner, I would make those somewhat larger. Lots of people watch from their phone and it’s kind of small people in my age group to see it.

The hand with AcKc would make me sleepless at night. We missed SO MUCH value. In a 4 bet pot on that board you can easily start building the pot on the flop and will get very little credibility for a flopped flush, let alone sets and straights. The old guy called your 4 bet. He has way more big pair combos than AK which you block. You wouldn't get much value out of his AK anyways since you blocked the clubs. There are so many action killing cards that can come on the turn and river, any club, any 4 through 9, any A (unlikely he had AA after calling 4bet and checking flop being an OMC and you blocking an A). Pretty sure he would have check raised you on the flop with KK, and at least call a big bet with QQ/JJ. Just my 2c.

Great job on your first poker vlog Jenny. On the last two hands where you had pocket jiggities, when he raised you preflop you should have 3 bet reraised but since you didn't his bet sizing was only 100 on the flop which you called , you should have reraised or folded. Since you called then he blasted the turn for 650 which makes no sense, which usually means bluff bet. Then you folded because you had no idea where you were in the hand. The last hand when you had cowboys and he beast raised to 350 you should have called and then re evaluate your action after the flop. Since you reraised you lost value and action which is what you want in winning multiple big bet per hour in cash games. Regardless you played well and congratulations on booking a nice win in your first poker vlog Jenny. I look forward to watching your future vlogs!

Well played, even the fold to the 98 suited by the steamer. Don't want to punt your stack off on second Pair when he very easily could have an ace as played. His double barrel there is a bit suspect, however I think it was the right move to fold. To be the best sometimes you have to be disciplined enough to lay down the best hand. If you can't then you become easily exploitable. Really happy to have found you on your first Vlog. Keep up the good content.

Great job. I would suggest making the cards larger, as someone else may have already suggested, the clubs and spades are hard to tell apart, and the 4’s look like aces. Also would be nice to see end of the session results, win or loss.

I'll give you an 8 out of 10. Other commenters are giving good advice here. Personally, I like the footage of Vegas and walking thru the casinos and the restaurants that some other vloggers show. Question: When do you willingly enter a hand with Queen Jack unsuited? Thank you.

Thoughts on leading with a block bet at @10:20, targeting overpairs under Ace, esp. if the villain isn't capable of turning those into bluffs? OOP, you get to call price against bigger ace (if they are aggro like you say) while getting away cheaply if they raise with sets or aces up. You have all the rare nutted hands in straddle. If you're choosing passive line on flop and turn with this hand, you need to extract value in the small % of time you actually make a thin-value hand like this.

Solid start. Authentic feel from the start, especially with the first hand not being captured. Bigger graphics will help us, and considering muting the table sounds (chip shuffling) until something interesting gets said

So glad this popped up on my feed. To echo others larger onscreen graphics. If not running chip counts then periodic ones. Brief life stories are good for the atmosphere of the vlog. One a week until you're quicker on the editing. But you can report how your doing.

Hey, First off I love your country of Australia spent about a week there while I was in the Navy. I think its awesome that you moved out to Vegas to pursue your passion for poker. I subscribed sooo.... yes another episode lol jk No but for real after this one ask your family and friends if they enjoyed it. Since the Main reason your doing it is to feel more connected with them. As far as helpful hints. Shoot just be you. Leave mistakes in there. Having nightmares seeing you vlog about 44 as you sent one of the biggest downswings of my life when you flopped set over set against me when I had 44 at Bellagio maybe a bit over a year ago. The pot wasn't even that big. Maybe like 5k or something but it was the start of a nasty downswing 😂. Good luck with your vlog 😊

good vlog, I like your analysis. the AQo hand on the button, AQs can be a call, AQo should be folded. Although, actually not sure about these, since effective stacks are like 300bb. but that probably further incentives just calling suited stuff and folding off suit combos.

Loved it! One way you can make the editing quicker is to not use card graphics but to instead type the text. Brad does it that way. Example: Board: A❤K♦️ 3 ♠️ Still easy to read and follow the action. Less work for you.

Congratulations on your first vlog from subscriber #709. You were at the top of my RU-vid recommendations. Like everyone else, I hope you make the cards bigger on your next vlog. I’m watching on my 55” TV and it looks small. I can’t imagine watching on a phone. Commentaries are good. Showing where you made a mistake using a solver is a good idea without having to go deep into the solver rabbit hole. A timestamp and equity percentages could be a good idea. Overall a very solid vlog. RayGun wishes she had represented Australia this well 😂
