Should have flipped the ramps and put the hook on the other end so you could make the angle cut for the transition more gradual. It would have left you enough space on the hook end to clear the rail.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer Год назад
Next time! fortunately they've worked great on some waaaay too heavy equipment
@ErikOrdway1984
@ErikOrdway1984 3 года назад
Drill a hole in the angle over need the welded ends so that water can drain out. If you do it need the end you will not loose any strength. That said they are so beefy they can probably take a hole drilled in the middle. This way you do not have to flip them.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 3 года назад
I'm liking that idea! A few holes even wouldn't hurt. I'm gonna do it because flipping those babies over ain't happening. Thanks man

Hello Spencer I’m commenting on this video because maybe your likely to see it? I’ve only made a couple comments on RU-vid. I am a climber and have been running a service very similar to yours, one man show for the most part. Just finished climbing me and my wife through college, leterally. It’s been really incouraging and helpful seeing how you do things rigging wise. Also I have been a little discouraged lately because I have tryed some contract climbing and have also considered expanding but it’s just not my style. some of the bigger Chanel’s on RU-vid with there crews and all make things look so professional it is somehow somewhat discouraging. Just wanted to tell you I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. One thing to help you stay safe in the trees. I learned the hard way and was lucky to be alright. I’ve watched a couple of your climbing videos where your climbing some leaning trees or dead or real long spar work where you have a great tie in point, or even a tie in on anouther tree. But if you don’t have a weak link in your lanyard in that senario you are really not doing yourself any favors. I was climbing a big rottin spar on an oak with my main climbing line in a great spot elsewhere in the tree but my lanyard was around the spar I’m lucky to not have been ripped in half! In that senario sence I have learned a couple good options. A piece of 550 cord or one of those 5 KN rated dmm exsesery biners to attach your lanyard on one side of your harness to give you a weak link in the system.
@metaspencer
@metaspencer 3 года назад
Great hearing from you! I try to remember a break-away biner or zip tie on those kinds of climbs, at least lately. Great advice man. Big thanks and keep doing it! I'm just not convinced those big businesses are right for me
