In my opinion; the notes that you've chosen are making the melody sound more weak. I watched the video for a few times and saw that you're just adding third degrees to every single note in the riff. I recommend you to use only roots and fifths with no thirds to make it sound better. By the way use "C Lydian" otherwise B with F can sound weird...

I disagree, that just makes it prog garbage. The orginal riff is melodically clear and to the point, right down to only using the root note, no fluff needed, not even making it a bar chord.
