One project that I have been wanting to try out for a long time has been making some serrated steak knives. Recently I got the opportunity to make a pair of them in some beautiful damascus steel for a customer's new kitchen set. Check out how I made them in this video and please leave us a like and subscribe if you enjoy the video, since your support helps us grow!

We are a team of two brothers that creates handcrafted knives. From the initial designing and grinding of the steel blanks to the final sanding of the handle, each step of the process is done by hand, which makes every knife that comes out of our shop 100% unique. In all of our blades, we strive to combine the clean lines of modern design with excellent performance, so that your knife will do its job properly and look great in the process.

Did you put any marks on the blades for spacing when you did your serrations, or did you just eyeball it?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
I often mark the first few and then go by the diameter of the wheel and just follow the pattern. 👍🏼

Those look great ! I've just started making Japanese style knives. What do you charge for a set like that? Thanks
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
Thanks! It depends on the steel type. I’d say about $275 per steak knife in stainless and $350 in damascus. Send me an email if you’d ever be interested in getting one.

Do you do any hand sanding to get the scratches out? I also use a polishing belt but it seems there are always scratches from the 120 or even 60 grit belt hiding that do not show up if you don't hand sand parallel to the blade.
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
I hand sand some blades but often do not. I don’t feel like it gives me that much better of a finish than if you do a really good belt finish. I just make sure that I get all of the coarse grit scratches out.
@martindesrocher4528
@martindesrocher4528 3 года назад
@Panagiotis Grigorakis you have to use finer grit if you have scratches you need to get rid of 220-400-800-1000 iv"e seen people go has high as 3000-5000-8000 to polish !

Nice work! Wondering... how many hours does it take to say make a (non-serrated) knife?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 9 месяцев назад
Thanks! It depends on the complexity, materials, and size, but I’d say anywhere from 4-8 hours.

No problem! You can find similar pins online easily if you just look for mosaic pins.

Does the coffee etch oxides wear off when used?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 3 года назад
They stay on well as long as you don’t rub hard with something abrasive.

Are the serrations only sharp on one side?
@StarkKnives
@StarkKnives 2 года назад
You typically only do serrations on one side. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen them on both!
