You actually mix your icecream to get it softer. If you get it in the tub, just mix it coarsely and it gets softer.

Homemade is really good though , there are easier ways to make it without eggs and with cool ingredients just mix them until is foamy and put to the freezer and before it frozens completely mix it again to break the crystals

Plus we had to run a special type of cleaning goo, idk what it was but it was kinda like goo, and then let it run for two hours ish, and then we had to rinse it out again

Trust me, I have had homemade ice cream, and it is a world of a difference better than store-bought ice cream. I was literally astonished the first time I tried it. And it was not just me, my whole family was amazed at how much superior home made ice cream is, so much that we all went out and bought our own ice cream makers afterwards. The only reason why the guy can't taste much of a difference, is because the candy ground up inside of it is masking the taste, and bringing it down to the level of the normal store-bought stuff. If he was tasting unadulterated homemade ice cream versus store bought ice cream of the same flavor, it would be no contest.

tbh I think he was actually serious when he said the mcflurry had no flavor. I made his hot chocolate recipe and it was way too sweet for my tastes even without the extra 60 grams of sugar. I think he just actually tastes things less easily.

well the modern world's definition of normal food, it kinda trashy. mcdonalds for one, taco bell, and many other restaurants. dont get me wrong, i like greasy, unhealthy food too, but my definition of FOOD is my mom's homemade cooking. its not necessarily "healthy" but its not fake shit that lasts a year sitting in a fridge. if i was a chef like him and had a more sophisticated flavor palate, id be pretty fucking depressed too...

If you’re trying to find cost and/or time effective recipes this isn’t the place to go. If you’re looking for that stuff I might suggest a RU-vid named “Adam ragusea”

Josh's videos are aspirational and that's part of their appeal. We wish we had the time, money and motivation (and sometimes equipment) to make these things at home knowing they would likely be super delicious. I'm sure some people are inspired to make some of his recipes for things that they really love to eat or to impress others. The rest of us watch to be entertained and appreciate his skills in the kitchen. I think people like Josh because he doesn't talk down to us viewers and really believes we can all be successful in the kitchen with a little bit of effort.

of course the original foods are quicker and cheaper, it's literally called fast food it's food that's fast and cheap, it just isn't that good and that's an understandable trade-off. The point of this series I think is to show that if you put in the time and effort you can make stuff that actually tastes great. Are his recipes 'better'? again I think it's a trade off. Also, I don't really feel like he is flexing, he puts out great recipes, listening to viewer requests and for the most part uses ingredients which are highly available. If you are looking for quick easy and practical recipes there are a lot of great creators like Adam Ragusea doing just that, Josh brings in his background in fine dining so he puts more emphasis on making stuff from scratch and seeking perfects results with recipes that are more time and effort consuming. In my opinion it's amazing that we have different kinds of creators in the cooking section of youtube and there is place here for all sorts of styles, so when I have time and want a cooking or baking challenge I know I can always turn to Josh and end with an incredible result.
