Weird thing I noticed: the DualSense isn’t detected in regular Bluetooth in iOS, but if you go to Accessibility > Switch Control > Switches > Bluetooth Devices and try to pair your controller, it will appear as Wireless Controller, and you can pair it, but it shuts off after about 0.1 seconds. I managed to pair my DualSense with my Windows PC and my MacBook Pro, and it works out of the box with Steam. I can also confirm that it works 100% on Remote Play, but only via USB. Even the mic mute button works!
The ps3 just has this weird ability to use almost any controller you can connect to it. With the exception of xbox products it can use just about anything including off brand pc controllers and joycons
The reason why it works on the PS3 out of the box is because of the way bluetooth works on the PS3 vs PS4. PS4 Bluetooth device connectivity is supposedly more restricted than the PS3's
But it's not like you could use PS2 controller on PS3. I quite liked the forwards Compatibility of PS Controllers as not only made the experience better but it probably helped sell more PS4s several months after launch as not every kid had parents willing to buy a PS4 on launch.
I’ve gotta say. The DualSense is such a nice controller. Feels so good just holding it. And the new headset is the most comfortable headset I have ever worn. And when you put it on it weighs little to nothing! So happy with both so far. Can’t wait for the PS5!
I've walked in a bunch of stores lately and found plenty of PS5 DualSense controllers on shelves even though the consoles themselves are as rare as hen's teeth. That's why I believe it makes good business sense for Sony to patch in DualSense support for both the PS3 and PS4. Especially when you consider that peripherals like controllers often bring in much more profit than do the actual consoles. Sony has sold what, almost 200 million PS3 and PS4 consoles combined so that represents a HUGE market of potential DS5 controller sales. Also, many of the people who buy those controllers would be likely to want them to be their 2nd PS5 controller eventually.
@@nc1743 Why wouldn't they? A PS5 controller is much easier to find nowadays, hell, even PS4 controllers are becoming more troublesome to find. The dualsense isn't that much more expensive than its predecessors either.
@@mishimaboogie true cause no matter price I just want a og black controller cause mines have joystick drift and I just need a new functional 1 and I was hoping ps5 controller would work but no point
I just got mine and literally had to check these videos to see if I got a knock off. The lack of quality in the packaging and accessories - USB C Cable - is a bit off putting for the amount this thing costs.
@@melu0o The accessories actually released on the 30th in most stores. I just showed up early to my local EB Games/GameStop and was able to get a controller, charging station and the headset!
The 8bitdo controller adapter will work with this, making it compatible with PS4, Switch and PC. The adapter will need a firmware update first but after performing this it's all plain sailing.
Go to ur settings on the ps4 then press Bluetooth devices, then press connect via wire, then restart ur ps4, plug in the dual sense, and then press the ps button
This is so annoying cause my town isn’t selling PlayStation 4 controllers anywhere anymore and I’ve had mine for years, it’s bearly working now and I really need a new one
It makes a lot of sense why it doesn’t work on the PS4 but does on the PS3. The ps4 controller worked on PS3 via usb connection, so the dual sense working in the same way on the PS3 makes a lot of sense. The PS3 controller never worked with the PS4, not even with USB. The PS4 controller didn’t even have a proper way to play wired with it’s own console. They had to make a patch where having it connected with USB actually cut down blatancy. They probably need to push a patch out for the bluetooth part for the dual sense to work properly. Same for USB seeing as it worked on PC via USB. Sony just didn’t focus on that and probably focused on updating share play to work for PS5 and the PS app.
They didn't, the PS3 is designed to be working with generic controllers and the Bluetooth is supported by Sony to work with them. The PS4 was not designed to be connected to third-party products. Please do your research before commenting stupid things.
Being more of an Xbox gamer then PlayStation i have always found the earlier PlayStation controllers too small. The controller from PS1-PS3 was always too small for me but thankfully Sony finally updated the controller from the PS4, i love the Duel Shock 4... still can't decide which i prefer, Xbox One controller or Duel Shock 4 but if i had to choose one i have to go with the Xbox One Elite Controller 2, i love having access to the four back paddles for gaming. Look forward to trying the Duel Sense, just hope by the time i finally get a PS5 they come out with a full black version of the system and controller, not a fan of the white and black.
I don’t know if you know this but, the reason the Dualsense doesn’t work via Bluetooth on ps4 is because it can’t operate the home screen, you use the dualshock 4 to operate the home screen but you can use the Dualsense to play a game. That’s really it. You should try it. It works.
Anyone who bought a Dualsense 5 Controller before the PS5 is out and you have a PC it might work with phones too I'm not 100% sure if it will work on phones though, but if you plug in the Dualsense 5 to your PC and play let's say Spider-Man using remote play on your PC you will be able to experience the Haptic feedback vibration before the PS5 comes out, haptic feedback 100% works on PS4 through remote play specifically in Spider-Man I haven't tried it in other games yet, I don't think the adaptive triggers work though just the Haptic Feedback motors, I've only tested it in Spider-Man and I know it works so I recommend giving it a try to see how the haptic feedback feels.
Duslshock 1, 2, and 3 were essentially the same size. Dualshock 4 is different in feel and size. I did get a Dualsense controller and it has a nice touch in feel but I don't have PS5 yet so I can't fully use the controller.
U got to get the developer mode on your iPhone and iPad for the latest software to use the ps5 controller I been using the ps5 controller on my iPhone 12 and I’m running the new software which is 14.5 which it’s not released out to the public yet but you can get it if you’re with the developers like me right now everyone is running 14.4 iOS
@@mar2smooth54 It feels good! Only thing is I havent gotten to play a game that supports the haptic feedback yet so I'll find that out at launch. Controller is fire though.
The fact that the controller works on PS4 via remote play and even works on PS3 natively, makes me think this is not a compatibility issue, but rather a choice. You see, if your ps4 controller breaks in a few years (and they will, since they are notoriously unreliable) you cannot simply buy a ps5 controller to replace it and the ps4 controllers will no longer be available in stores. Now you have a console with a large library of games that you bought over the years, but with no controller to play on it with. So if you want to play the games you already own without using remote play, you HAVE to buy a PS5.
A fun note is if you have a ps3/ps4 controller adapter laying around you can chain it with another adapter that is for PC to ps3/xbox 360 can still use it in controller emulation mode lol.
Thanks man this is an amazing video by the way and you ain't kidding about Sony is really trying to push prices thanks for making this video man much appreciate it 👍👍
I just came here to say that i just watched the ps4 recording video and you are fire like honestly you gots good edits great quality a smile that makes me die laughing (not an insult btw) keep going thanks for bringing a smile to my face
Yeah, I'm seriously tempted to buy a Series X instead of a PS5 because of this. And this is coming from someone that owns a PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP and PS Vita
The PS4 Bluetooth thing you did works you have to click on wireless controller it's just say Switch Account or something then you want to click on that and it should work
appreciate the vid & of course thryre trying 2 push those sales that's why u had 2 go thru all of that for I 2 work on the same older consoles smh…. SONY is good ill just say that 4 now … hopefully once they get things going they'll do better down the line as you've said
I noticed some PS3 games where the DS4 left joystick doesn't work well in diagonals (ICO, for example, the character can only walk if you are pushing in a exact diagonal. No running.) Do you know if the DS5 resolves this issue?
I wish this worked as Microsoft did it and you can use xbox one controller on series x/s and vice versa but they're literally the same controller but its cool
You didn’t mention if the DuelSense being connected to your PC/Mac still has all the regular functions like Adaptive Triggers and Haptic Feedback? Does it have those features?
Surely with it working on the ps3 makes me think the ps5 aint gonna be all that. Imagine making it not work on ps4 just to push ps5 sales. Sony are a joke
Does the Dualsense work wirelessly when paired to the PS3? Also does the headphone jack work when the controller's paired to the console? I've been looking for a PS3-compatible controller that works with headphones for weeks, lol.
If they made dualsense 5 work on Ps4 by Bluetooth it would be very good because the D5 is more beautiful and more comfortable than the D4 then they would sell more than the D4
