I recieved a few lovely photos after this window set was fitted a couple of weeks back. I thought I'd put together a little bit of a video showing the project come together. Michael from Falcon Pine Kitchens & Interior Joinery/Furniture did a fantastic job on the strip/restoration/wax and fitting of the door 👍

I have been curious about the cementing process. Do you cement the exterior side first? I was thinking the first side you cement would accept more cement in the slots which would also push the glass down against the lead channels. Then when turned over, there would be less of a gap to fill with cement on the interior side. But I've never tried the lead came method and perhaps brushing the cement in on the second side centers the glass in the slots since the cement is still soft? Just questions I've wondered about whenever I see cementing done. Another very beautiful window!

It doesn't really matter which side you start on, you flip it over quite a lot during this process 🫶

Love watching you work...was waiting to see you cementing more. Ok, I'm just going to ask...you don't use whiting or sawdust to clean away excess mud? That's how I've always done it, but what a mess...thanks for sharing a brilliant stained glass work of art. I love your designs.

When you put the whiting on, is there a time frame to polish it all off ?

I've not used whiting for years but you normally remove it once the cement has dried 👍

First I want to say I love your work! I was curious about your cementing process; do you use whiting powder at all? Or do you only use cement?

I prefer not to use whiting if I can, it just makes a mess 🤣

Another beautiful set of windows! I'd love to have that as my front door. About how long does it take you to put one average size window together? Do you do it all in one go? Tia 🙂

There isn't really an 'average sized' window. Its a bit like how long is a piece of string. It all depends on the intricacy of the design and the overall size and shape.. I normally say a couple of weeks making from start to finish 👍 cheers for watching

Anither beautiful window set. You make it look so easy, it certainly isn't for me😂. You are very inspiring to eatch though. You don't use chalk dust in your cementing process... Is that because you leave it a couple of days to harden by itself? Also, i hadn't noticed the oyster knife, but that makes total sense. One last question... Do you make your own cement? Would you share the recipe? I understand if you'd rather not. Thanks...I love your videos .

Thank you ❤️🩷💚 I don't like the whiting as it just makes a huge dusty mess. For the cement mix it's a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for leaded light cement recipe 🤗🤗🤗

I made a panel recently and even 3 weeks after soldering it still bent in the middle when I was manipulating it. Do you ever use zinc frame for strength ?

I use a mix of lead from 4mm upto 12mm wide 👍

Did you switch surfaces between soldering and cementing? If so what is the surface on the cementing bench?

Yep I have lots of different benches, some glass, some carpeted, some bear wood 👍

Question: with all the lead you handle, why aren't you wearing gloves? Lead is absorbed through the skin, with constant contact, you risk the buildup of Lead in your system which will lead to Lead Poisoning.

If only i could create like this! How on earth do you work out the size of the pieces for the design to fit in the frame taking into account the lead keeping them in place?

The design side is a huge part of every project but it's not very exciting to watch 😂. So many conciderations as they must fit correctly. I work to a millimeter tolerance 🥵🤣
