A slipper should not be too smooth. You want it to bite a bit into the sheet. As a matter of fact, an old file makes a good slipper as it can shift metal sideways to either stretch or compact a dent. See Trevs blog on RU-vid if you want to see a master in the craft.
Thanks for the reply Achmad! I'm also a huge fan of Trev. He is a good teacher and has definitely become a master at this craft. I agree that slapper files are also very handy in certain cases but it won't be ideal for my application as I'm only planning to use it for fine finishing. But I'm very much a novice at metal shaping so I really appreciate all suggestions and help I can get so thanks again!
Hi Danie, Fantastiese video soos gewoonlik en ek hou van die klein veranderinge wat jy maak om jou videos bietjie op te “spice” as ek dit so kan sê 😁 Net een observasie, ek is gladnie iemand wat bakwerk doen nie maar gaan fein amper poeier sand put sand nie beter werk vir die sakke om die kontoere beter te kan vorm nie, my logika se dat dit n harder impak kan vat sonder om te misvorm ? Ek ken nie hierdie tipe gereedskap nie, so ek wonder maar net😊
Hi Martin. Dankie vir die nice boodskap! Ek moet eerlik sê dat ek self ook dink fyner is beter. Die sand wat ek gebruik het was maar die fynste wat hier by my rond gelê het. Sovêr werk dit okay. Het al goeie vordering gemaak met die Jaguar body.

Ja nee kyk, met alles wat aangaan in SA deesdae moet ou gebruik wat jy byderhand het, maar dit gee nogmaals n goeie idee wat mens alles kan maak met normale allerdaagse dinge, soos die gesegte gaan 'n boer maak 'n plan 👍 Ek sien nogal uit na jou opvolg video oor die Jag 😁
