I watched the whole video, Zack. Great info and and I really appreciate your transparency. Love your business motto and your attitude about fairness and helping others. You are exactly the kind of person I want to support and deal with. Thanks, Zack. Great job!
I'd ABSOLUTELY prefer pre-ordering. That way I'm in line and can estimate a delivery date. I do not like waiting, watching and then missing out because someone was quicker on the order button. I'm ready to order and then wait patiently.
Hey Zack! This video was very helpful. I'd really love it if you did a video about how you suggest dealing with difficult customers or breeders. Thanks!!
Honestly. I literally got kicked off of Coturnix corner today for defending your company. Not sure what the issue is there, but I appreciate everything you do and support your business 100%. You never talk bad about anyone and are there to help anywhere you can! Your presence in the next generation is admirable and we love what you're doing. I think you should do the video on haters. It's in EVERY business and sometimes its hard to look over!!
I've been watching your channel for a while now and I have learned a ton. I also gotta say you seem like a real good guy. love your content and product
I watched until the end, thank you for the thorough information. I would appreciate a video on information on you handle unhappy customers/people. I think it is timely considering the state of everything and the unhappiness may come from panic.
Zack I have learned so much from your videos I would appreciate any info on handling hater’s or problems that can arise…I currently only have 27 quail I’m taking my time and learning everyday. Thanks Kate
Your honesty and communications are just some of the reasons I’m so glad I purchased from you. Your customer service philosophy is perfect. I ordered 50 jumbo and got 60. I triple checked my incubator and yes they lie and I adjusted. I have 5 days till lockdown and looking forward to good hatch numbers. I have candler ordered as it will be here tomorrow. I’m building cages as we speak. I have brooder ready. Your RU-vid content is non stop enjoyable and informative. I’ve listened to all the others and they are good but you are excellent. Keep up the great work. I’m doing this for sustainability but now I’m seeing possibilities that quail are opportunities. Thank you to Zach and Mysire Farms
@@MyshireFarm as an update. I ordered 50 Jumbo Coturnix Quail eggs and you sent 60. I broke 1 getting the eggs out of their very nice shipping. I also did candling at lockdown and determined that 9 were as bright as a lightbulb. I used the scissors and sure enough all those were put in our chicken bucket. So 50 are in the Nuture Right 360 and in lockdown. I might have determined that 5 more were suspect but I’m a rookie so I want to have a good hatch percentage lol. It’s about the numbers. My brooder box is all ready and I’m building some grow out cages as we speak but have time. Today is day 16. So in the next few days I hope to have some action. I’m hoping for 30. While friends on Facebook have greater faith than I do as I said I’m a rookie. I determined that nuture right was 2 degrees off so I’ve been using a thermometer and it reads 99.8. And the nuture right is 101.5. Incubators do lie but heck I’m a rookie. This has been fun so I will return and report my numbers but with the disclaimer, I’m a rookie and at day 16 I see no movement so the suspense is killing me. I’ve been running the humidity perfectly. It’s at 70% now and prior at 45 to 50% here in dry Utah. The Ray Cabin Quail venture is a blast thanks to you
Zack; I have no problem with preordering. You cannot expect people to keep 10000 quail just so you can have next day shipping. Would really appreciate you doing the tough customer video. You guys work hard at your business and think through where you want to go. Keep it up.
Asking for prayers for our 33 year old daughter, Amanda, who has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Prayers are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. 🙏✝️💖🌼
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and explaining your thought process. I think you've done very well on talking about difficult issues in the past and would appreciate your approach on handling customers and problems. I also respect how busy you are and that your video could also be problematic. Maybe think on how it could effect your upcomming Quail Con and reflect on if before or after is best for you. I have not ordered yet as I was concerned on a being a newbie for outside, crazy weather shipping and local weather. I have been involved with studying quail for over 6 mnths.
I like the preorder idea. First come, first serve. So many question me to death about quail and never follow through. I preorder fruit trees and other things to be planted in spring. With feed costs, I can't expand on a fixed income. Growing it would cover my entire yard to feed them all.
Great change in buying process. I’d rather wait a few weeks than never know when something may or may not be back in stock. Yes would also like to hear your thoughts about your last topic proposal. Love your channel!
Hi Zack, I am just now learning about quail. Your videos have been very helpful. I am waiting for your website to update so that I can get my order in for jumbo wilds. I do not mind the wait as this increases my learning time and time to prepare my setup. I feel you have a quality product and great customer service which is another reason I do not mind waiting to order from you vs another supplier. While I want quail for personal meat and egg use only, and have no intention at this time of starting a business with them, I believe you covering any business related topic would be very, very helpful if I ever did so in the future. Another way to look at it is RU-vid University is here until it isn’t and even if you don’t get a tremendous demand for business videos now, you might in 6 months especially since you are having record orders and there is an increase in people looking for food security. If you already had the videos up, you could simply direct folks to that playlist. It’s just a thought, I know you are crazy busy right now and the business videos might be best kept for making after your busy season ends. Regardless, let me say I appreciate the time you take to share information and to educate others! You are a QUAILity businessman! 😁
Hello Zack, Well I am new to the quail business but I am already at max capacity. I can't keep up with requests. I have not run into any negative feedback issues but I am sure it will come as that is human nature. So far everyone has understood and I tell them the facts and they seem to be okay with it. I would like to hear how you deal with the negative publicity as that can have a really bad affect on your business. Thank you for pulling me into this business (in a good way)
Your videos are always easy to listen to. You make sense in the way you handle your business, and I’m sure that’s why you are successful. Keep doing what your doing, even though you met get some haters, you have many more admirers then you think. God bless.
Thanks Zack you have definitely helped me on my quail journey. Your quail for profit videos have been an inspiration. The maths one was challenging, not the maths but the imperial measurements, I’m in Australia and use metric. I had my converter app working over time. Thanks again for all you do.
I was going to say option 3, glad you continued your business plan. If it works, don't change it works most of the time. People need to know what you have, knowing they will have to wait makes sense! Cost of living is going up and at the same time we need to be concerned about the U.S Dollar could collapse completely. Let's think outside the current money situation. Just my rant! God bless.
Hi Zack, personally I wouldn't bother doing a video on how you respond to the "haters." In the age of social media people just love drama and I'm sure a response video would just give them more fuel. I'm only going off of what I've seen in a specific Facebook group though, so you do you and I'm sure things will mellow out. I don't have experience with your hatching eggs, but I did enjoy my breeder set I bought a few years ago. They arrived in California happy and healthy. As for your new business model, if I wanted to buy eggs and I knew they would arrive between 6-8 weeks from the time I ordered them that would be fine. But planning for them on my end would be difficult if they arrived anytime between when I ordered them and eight weeks. Does that make sense? Maybe the former is what you meant in the video and I just misinterpreted.
I have a gun shop and believe the same way you do. While everyone else was jacking up their prices, mine stayed the same my markup has stayed the same if my price went up that's because what it cost me has went up. My margine is 15% most of the time I have a 10% discount code floating around for all web orders. I want my customers to be repeated customers. I don't want to be known as the guy that was over charging during shortages.
Zack: Have you considered "subbing out" your balut business to small local quail folks you trust and train, while you serve your hatching egg demands? I would also agree that you can also bump prices up for your own benefit. Consider pricing the 25's at $2 each, 50's at $1.90, down to $ 1.25 for massive orders, etc.? Maybe you can find a less expensive way to ship and pass those savings on.
I am the only one in my area that sales Quail eggs. Another guy about 15 miles from a has quail he has never ventured into sales. High sail mostly to distributors and and a few restaurants. I don't have a problem with people talking me down. Great video
Yes a video would be good. If nothing else to see how you would handle things with the customer (New quail customer) I was one of those recently. Now that I have received the eggs I have faith that you will do as you say and I wouldn't worry if the eggs were 6 weeks to three months out. Clarity is the key, I saw on the website that the eggs would be three to four weeks before they were shipped and that the eggs would be laid the day of shipment. I still sent a couple of emails to touch base. I think building confidence in your name and in your business is key as well. I do however think, Zack, if your need for certain types of Hatching eggs keeps growing, you may need to do something like hire seasonal help, and say 8 weeks before the busy season starts you hatch a bunch of eggs to take care of the glut of orders this time of year receives. You could sell off the breeders when the busy season slows. Just a thought I am sure you have thought of this already. Thanks for the great info you share with us.
I feel that your decision is a good one. If it takes a bit longer to get, I should be okay waiting for a good product. As for doing a video on how you work through issues, I would rather you NOT do it for fear people will see how you work and take advantage of your generosity.
Reason I didn’t buy from you was the loose ship dates. You do you,,but I’d book weekly ship dates. Say Monday. And when you sell 75% of capacity, close that date. Sell for next Monday. Sell 75% of that date, close and sell the next Monday. Have a check box saying,”I’d be happy to receive sooner” “No,please ship on MY date”
@@MyshireFarm Shows 1-3 weeks. That’s like a girlfriend saying she’s coming over and I better be ready. SO I STAY HOME AND WAIT FOR 3 WEEKS😄 I’ll look again when I complete my cage system. 😀
I love your "long videos"!! If you were repeating the same information all the time it would be boring. I learn when you speak!! Anything you say from help raising quail to customer service would be very much appreciated. I have not found one video you've done that I have not enjoyed and/or gotten something out of. Please keep on doing as much new content that you can!!
Another opportunity: What about one of your very helpful associates (I see some names helping you manage your live discussions) creating a new channel--SPONSORED BY MYSHIRE--that is meant for your followers/fans/supporters that are beyond small, home grows and aimed at those doing quail biz. There could be sharing of marketing ideas, pricing, ideas, discoveries, etc., all related to the BUSINESS of quail ranching. I'll follow that channel.
I was searching and unless I have overlooked it I can't find one. A video on calibrating Thermo/Hygro on the Govee. I was wanting to suggest it for a future video. I found a few forum posts that talk about it but nothing concrete.
Raising prices as you discussed is a quandary. When you think about it a bit it’s the same as gasoline. The price fluctuates as supplies and demand fluctuates. $3.50 one day and the next fill up is $3.69 a gallon. That’s just life. What’s the ratio on type sales? Are giants consistently higher in demand than German pastels? Is there “waste production” of one type of bird over another. Cut space for the lower demand bird and use it for the higher demand birds. Then if you make that adjustment is egg as food sales suffering and is that ok in your business model? Are you contracted to sell brand X store 2,000 eggs a month and that quota can’t be met so contractually you’re unable to make that adjustment. I’ll stop here as I’m getting dizzy 😂
You need to decide what you want as your margin and then if you are worried about the increase in cost then increase it by 10% so if you make an extra 10% for 4 months then prices go up you hit your margin goal for the next 4 months then if you have another increase your below you margin and you can either say the beginning of the year off sets the margin or increase prices then. I only increase prices once a year
I had a customer purchase hatching eggs. Last week i followed up with them on how the hatch went. She said none hatched. Which flipped me out honestly! (I've been getting 80+% hatch rate) she stated "It's cool, it's just a risk you take." Well no its not cool at all! I offered to replace those eggs, but she hasn't answered me back at all. Is there anything more I could have done? I truly don't understand a 0 hatch. She did say she just ordered some off ebay. But as a new business this has me a bit terrified!
I would reach out one more time and offer the eggs or offer to give eggs after eBay is hatched. After that there is not much you can do which would go into angry customers or “haters” you can’t make everyone happy but the goal is to try
Definitely a slight price increase. Feed will be going up. I personally cut back on my verity to raise more jumbo wilds. Same amount of feed easier to sex and others like to be able to feather sex also. Thank you for all your videos and teachings. See ya on the next
We are but demand will drop dramatically in slow season so growing is happening but not where it should be at to keep up as the rest of the year will cause issues
Southwest gamebirds solution is fantastic. You can see everything they have, they have a selection of dates where you can order the eggs and they don't sell more than their preset amount they know will be available. I also know when I'm getting my eggs. I can't order from myshire with an unknown ship date.
@@MyshireFarm Understandable, like you said, each situation is different. I love your videos, you're one of the biggest influences on my quail journey that started just a couple months ago. Making the move from chicken. Thank you!
