Thank you for the those instructions especially when I am newbie. But what kind of vinyl are you using? Also, what is the next step to Heat Press to like a shirt? I am trying figure why people do and do not do the flip horizontal feature. Thank you,
Hi! We love our ColorSpark HTV found on the website. In any program at all, not just Silhouette, you ALWAYS want to use the horizontal flip for HTV, or "mirror" it as you'll see it often called. For permanent vinyl, you never mirror. Here's why - the point of flipping it is because of the adhesive. Permanent vinyl, you simply cut, color side up. Lift, and place. You can't do that with HTV, it's already temporarily adhered to it's carrier sheet and you can't use transfer tape to lift it, nor would you want to. It would melt in your heat press, it wouldn't lift anyway without stretching or tearing, and the HTV won't stick to your garment until heat is introduced. Now with HTV... You cut it color side DOWN and the adhesive side UP (which isn't sticky until heat, remember). Which is the shiny side DOWN. You mirror it before cutting. Weed it, which is remove everything extra that isn't design, then you're left with a backwards looking word aren't you? You're not. Flip it over and lay it on the shirt shiny side up. Now it's facing the right way. Cover with a brown teflon sheet and press to the time and temp it needs, you'll have to sometimes read where you got it from or look it up, but often each brand will want a slightly different time or temp and pressure. Once pressed, you need to look close to your shirt, if you see a fully smooth surface, your heat press wasn't tight enough. If you see a slight fabric texture, then it's right. And you'll need to have already also looked up if this is a hot peel or cold peel vinyl. This means - hot peel = remove carrier sheet slowly right then as it's finished pressing. Cold peel = wait until the garment cools before peeling the carrier or you'll risk lifting the design right up off the shirt. More things to research - the type of fabric your HTV will work on best, what you can't use it on, and be sure that your customers know how to care for the finished garment as well. Often hand made shirts are best laundered med dryer heat and always reversed. To iron, reverse it first. And so forth. There's a lot of research that goes into crafts, as well as experimenting. Don't be scared to fail. Don't be scared to use one shirt to practice on, all over it. Cover it with practice. Hope that helps! -TRW Crystal
Man I have never had something so confusing. Right from the start I have trouble cause you mentioned selecting the right blade. How will I be able to determine which blade is what I need. I’m mostly cutting vinyl for shirts.
It is not too bad, she explained very well. The first step of course is read what Silhouette sent to you with the machine. There're some guides to know terminology...
I would stick with the Autoblade for HTV, but we are always here to answer specific questions. If you're unsure, give us a call at 941-755-1696 for troubleshooting and assistance. - TRW Haley
Quick question so I put in everything like in the video. But for some reason it keeps mentioning the registration marks don’t detect. I had already removed the marks but it keeps saying that. And also it don’t let me select “Cut” what can I do so it can let me cut or what am I doing wrong?
Registration marks can be quirky. If they don't detect, then use some canned air on the laser eye on the machine, gently. You'll see it around where the blade housing homes. If that doesn't work, then go into your silhouette menu's and calibrate the machine with a piece of paper that it will have you print on your inkjet. If all else fails, I've also had to unplug the machine and plug it back in and they came back, as if some computer coding got jumbled up. Also be sure that everything is on the cutting mat on screen. -TRW Crystal
I am interested to find the settings. I have no idea what setting to use for the heat transfer vinyl and the video says to see the website for settings. Which website is that?
Hi Wendy! They were referring to our website, therhinestoneworld.com! Our recommended cut settings can be found here: www.therhinestoneworld.com/cut-settings - TRW Haley
I am new to weeding, question 1 why did you mirror it? Question 2 in the video I did not see you use transfer tape, was the clear backing the transfer tape? Was the design on transfer tape (I think) confused. at what step do we put transfer tape?
Question 1: You only have to mirror HTV when you are using text. Questions 2: Transfer tape is only needed when you are using Sign Vinyl. When you are done weeding the Sign Vinyl you would press the transfer tape to the vinyl so you can transfer it to the object you are using. -TRW Abby
I loaded the cutting mat as you did in the video, but did not move it using the arrows like you did. When I do a test cut, it cuts straight onto the mat, instead of the vinyl. But when I send an image to cutter it cuts on the vinyl. How do I get the test cut on the vinyl?
Hi Charmaine! Gently shove your mat under the rollers, and while holding it gently to guide it, press the back arrow to move it into place. If it does not move, your cuts will not come out right and further troubleshooting is needed. Give us a call at 941-755-1696 for additional help. - TRW Haley
Hello there, it depends on the type of blade you're using and the type of vinyl. We made this guide here for all the vinyl we carry: www.therhinestoneworld.com/colorspark-cut-settings Remember to do a test cut though! -TRW Erika
Unfortunately, we only offer one-on-one training online or in person through this link: www.therhinestoneworld.com/One-on-One-Training_c_356.html -TRW Bri
Here's a list of what materials Cameo can cut: www.silhouetteamerica.com/printer-friendly/faq/materials-silhouette-can-cut#:~:text=Silhouette%20cutting%20machines%20are%20designed,sticker%20paper%20among%20other%20materials. Hope this helps! -TRW Kait
Hello. We offer many different kinds of vinyl, so there are many differences between them. Do you have any questions about any two specific vinyls? - TRW Richard
When I mirror or turn my image it does not work. The words are backwards when I put it on my shirt. I tried doing it without turning it vertically and it worked just fine. So odd! How does this happen?
Decal vinyl is more similar to a sticker, it has a sticky backing that you can just peel off. HTV lacks that backing because it is meant to transfer onto the fabric via a press. -TRW Bri
When using the Silhouette heat transfer vinyl, do I remove the paper backing before applying the vinyl to the cutting mat? Probably a silly question but have never used this before.
I do have a couple of questions to answer this question to the best of my ability. I would reach out to the call center, they will be able to help you. They are available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. 941-755-1696. -TRW Abby
Doesn't tell you how to adjust the rollers or which side of the vinyl goes up or down, is the cutting mat necessary? Got more questions than answers after watching the video
Hi Jose, When cutting HTV, you will always load your material shiny side down. It is not necessary to use a cutting mat. Please feel free to email us at info@therhinestoneworld.com if you have any other questions, we're happy to help! - TRW Haley
And I this case you can just use blue vinyl. But what if I’m putting a picture logo with different colors. I imagine I would have to print that out first and then cut it but is that even possible
Cameo does print and cut as well, but we don't work much with that. You can do multiple layers of different color vinyl, though! You would just cut them out one at a time. - TRW Haley
Crazy question.....I just got my the cameo 4 plus (15"). My biggest problem has been placing the mat properly into the machine. I am putting the left edge of the mat next to the gray lines on the left hand side of the cameo. The mat is a 14" mat and has 1/4' little line outside the mat where the numbers start. What part of the mat goes against the gray line? When I do test cuts it cuts outside where the numbers begin (on the very edge). HELP me please
Hey Vicki! The left side should go against the lines. When you cut with a mat, it looks just like it does in Silhouette Studio in terms of placement. The issue might be that a 14" mat is cutting it really close for a 15" cutter, unfortunately. - TRW Haley
@@TheRhinestoneWorld I said 14" but it is a 15" mat. In my page setup do I say mat is 15" and media custom is 12" if I am cutting 12" vinyl? does this confuse the software? My test cuts cut off the grid. :-/
question I just hooked up my cameo and I’m trying to do a quick press with one of the pics in the library but it keep saying registration mark failed even tho I have checked on.. please help and thanks again..
Hi Holly! Please see below a link to our recommended cut settings. Sometimes they have to be adjusted as the blade continues to be used. I recommended starting with the recommended settings and doing small test cuts, adjusting as needed, until you get your desired result. www.therhinestoneworld.com/cut-settings - TRW Haley
Wish I had watched this video before, (watched a HPN on how setting a CAMEO 4) guess they focus on selling heat press only, now I have a cool TEST cut on my mat LOL
Hi! You would just click the arrow and a menu should drop down and there will be a menu that drops down where you can select the subject you need training on. -TRW Maegan
You probably need to alter your cut settings. Please email us at info@therhinestoneworld.com and allow us to use Teamviewer. We can then see what's going on :) -TRW Bri
The image in this tutorial is a cut ready image, there was no need to trace. If you do need help with tracing an image we would recommend watching this tutorial video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VUPOCT-2i-I.html.
Hey Luke, I'd say depends on the look or style your going for. We have loads of T-Shirt Vinyl available. Check them out and let us know what you think! www.therhinestoneworld.com/Vinyl-Foil -TRW AL
This is tutorial is great except for the fact that you guys always skip the blade depth, the speed in the pressure and all of that. this never gets explained on any tutorial video fir silhouette. That’s the part that I have the most trouble with and trying to get my cuts right on certain materials I don’t know what I’m supposed to set my blade out I don’t know what kind of depth I’m supposed to set it out and I don’t know what kind of speed I’m supposed to set it at.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Could you please email us at info@therhinestoneworld.com with a brief description of your problem? We're going to help you get it figured out! - TRW Haley
Ok what does does the test cut do? does it cut or what? If this is first cut then you should show everything I don't care about saving time SHOW IT ALL. This is why I am watching the video to learn so teach me...
We do recommend that your settings for easy weed be a blade depth of 3, a speed of 10, and a force of 5. If you are still not able to cut through just try adjusting the force until you get the perfect cut. You can also see all our recommend cut settings here on our website. docs.therhinestoneworld.com/go/?to=Cutting_Specs_and_Recommended_Cut_Settings Thank you for watching! - TRW Bobbi
oh, thanks for this easy explanation, I just want to know I do not have my own designs on my computer, only the Siltoutte's is the same process that I have to do.
Here's one of our charts to get you started! We have a few of them on site under the FAQ section at the very very bottom. www.therhinestoneworld.com/siser-cut-settings -TRW Crystal
@@TheRhinestoneWorld thanks for this. I wish I understand the relationship between depth and force. For easyweed you go depth 1 and really high force, for stretch you go depth 3 but still high force. I've gone with 3/6/8 for stretch which I think is recommended my siser. But regardless of my settings, I can't get it to cut without a cutting mat.
Regardless of the machine, this video gives a very good idea on the mechanics behind this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3wRE-u8NINU.html The depth is how far your blade comes out. The larger the number, the deeper the blade will go in. The force is, just like it sounds. If you're having a lot of trouble possibly also check (not only your blade of course), but the cut strip on the machine where the blade is traveling can wear as well. -TRW Crystal
Our apologies, that yellow circle is there to have the cursor stand out so people can easily follow what is being clicked on. It is a feature that is edited in the video and does not reflect in the Silhouette Studio software.
I have ruined 2 sheets of vinyl by putting it shiny side up. I am an idiot. And after watching this video I ALMOST did it AGAIN!!!! wtf is wrong with me.
