I really appreciate your videos! I’m BRAND new to this bread making thing and I love all of the detail you’ve put into your videos. I have a question about all-purpose flour! I checked out your Amazon page and have purchased the high gluten flour so I can make bread in the bread maker and I wanted to get the all purpose flour you suggest but I can’t spend that much money right now on a 50lb bag, so I’m trying to find a suitable alternative. Do I need a bleached or unbleached flour to feed my starter or does it matter?

Thank you. Unbleached is best if you can find it. If you have the high gluten flour I would feed it with that.

I have been working on a starter for 2 weeks tomorrow. It doubles in a size but it takes several hours… and the consistency is thick pancake batter… out temps have gone all over the place here in Georgia. Is it ok to keep working on it longer? It smells yeasty/good and it is “active” just a little slower I guess. Ty for any guidance!

If it is doubling within a couple hours I would give it try. You could also feed it with a little more flour to make it a tat thicker.

@@ButterflyMeadowsHomestead it is taking more time to double. Within a couple of hours it rises about a fourth to a third more, not double… I will try less water tomorrow and see. I put it I. The microwave tonight to see if it needs more warmth. Ty!

Your video said your starter takes about 3 days to get bubbles and I started mine and got bubbles the next day! I’m in Florida, does that make sense to you? I fed it about 24 hours after I made it since I saw a ton of bubbles already and I’m hoping that’s okay!

Yes that’s great. It’s really different for everyone depending on environment.

How long can starter stay in refrigerator?
@ButterflyMeadowsHomestead
@ButterflyMeadowsHomestead 6 месяцев назад
Opinion varies on that. Personally I have found as long as there is no mold it can last as long as you need it to last. You can also freeze it if you need long storage. After long storage periods you might want to feed it a few days before you can use it successfully.
