This is similar somewhat to the little Mafell KSS300 circular saw which has a 120mm blade. Don't know if you can get them over there but I'd love to see you review one. It's my favorite saw, by far. Only downside is the price: US $1250, but it comes with two 5.5ah 18v batteries, charger, dust bag, rip fence and flexible 1400mm track in a compact carrying case. There is nothing quite like it really. US dimensional lumber is 38mm thick and the KSS30 cuts 40mm @ 90°. Probably wouldn't cut your lumber as easily though.

The 165 (XGT) is more powerful.... The motor is bigger, but the blade is bigger too, so don’t ask me why. To answer your question, I actually bought this version of the 125 with the removable shoe because I’m used to Mafell/Festool having nothing there (most of them do a negative bevel too). I laughed when I read the instructions telling me to bevel the saw to cut an expansion gap. The German ones go right to the wall. Both “Japanese” saws I noticed have way too much open area on the blade guard. Be mindful. The Yamashin blades are a better cheaper alternative to the Makita blades...but my god are they paper thin. The 125 went from the beast you now know to bogged down when I threw KSS40 blades onto it. US Postal service has been misrouting my thick 2.2/2.26 kerf 125mm German blades all over Illinois the past month, otherwise I’d have feedback. All of this said, get the XGT 165. It MURDERS the LXT. Bonus, it comes with a cheap single bar rip fence (it’s set up for the dual bar one). If you want the dust nozzle for the 125 it’s 194202-9

Need some opinions! Thinking of getting this for working on roofs to cut off roof purlins, and other roof cutting, but 400$ is a lot to stomach. I use a Milwaukee 7 1/4 fuel currently. Should i just get the Milwaukee m12 circular saw on sale? Or should I bite the bullet and pick this up? only problem is I would have to get a battery and charger too bc I don't own any Makita 40v. Also have some dewalt and metabo stuff so those platforms could be an option too. Would like to stick to Milwaukee or metabo htp platforms but if the tool is outstanding I'm willing to go outside the box.

Well this Makita should last you a lot longer than that! You won't burn it out cutting laminate flooring. It will eat the bosch power wise. It comes with a fairly fine blade, and very thin. But you can get finer blades but they may be hard to come by depending on where you live.

Looks like this spins at 4500 / 6000 RPM, while the LXT does 5400 RPM. Same depth of cut specified for each saw. I'm wondering if this one will have more power. Also, that mysterious slot along the back edge of the base, maybe it fits the rear bar of the track guide adapter? (The adapter with 2 bars).

You can get 40v 16mm saws, but not with the removable front. Although they do have a small reverse bevel angle.

This new line of 40v from Makita is super expensive in Canada. The 40v 7 1/4 inch saw with charger and 4 ah battery will set you back 669$ + tax = 769$ 😳😳😩😩

@user-fo2vr5qz2l 3 года назад
In Russia it's expensive tools too:) it's almost about 1k$ for any tool included two 4ah batteries, though construction workers usually get a bit less than 1k$ 🙀 so I'll keep 18v tools I'm happy that it cost not so much))

Makita don't make them in the US. The US ones are made in China. I have heaps of videos on the 3 purple Japanese ones I have including looking at them on the inside. I also filmed another quick comparison video today of a 40v Japanese impact vs a 40v Chinese impact and... I think they are the same.
