My 14 year old daughter came home from the library with his autobiography today. Its truly one of my proudest moments as a father. I find it a shame its not in the curriculum in her school. I even let her stay up an hour past bedtime so she could read. lol I have always loved her excitement for history, and differing perspectives. I have sensed her infinite curiosity that I have always had, and tried to foster it the best of my ability. Thank you for posting this interview/discussion. I am going through a lot of his older speeches and interviews while writing time-stamped notes, so I can rewatch them back with her and give perspective on whats being said, while also hearing her perspective, or what she thinks is being said. I am beyond excited. lol I hope anything who stumbles across this has a lovely, and positive day/night!

This is a masterclass in rhetoric. Watch how he refuses to let the white guys control the conversation. He understands exactly what they're doing and is relentless about refusing to walk into their traps, whether it's the thing about the name he was born with, or trying to stir up crap between Civil Rights organizations. He's not even slightly fazed; you can tell he was used to this. He knows it's coming, he sees it, and he absolutely refuses to allow it. He maintains civil language even when a lesser man would just get angry, not for any other reason than knows what it takes to win. This is what real power looks like.

While no doubt racism exists across social spectrums in America, between all groups, even White Against White (Irish) and Black Against Black (Africans) and Hispanics Against HIspanics (Mestizos), it's also a fact if you were to watch the other archival City Desk shows, this is just how people talked back then, after WW2, when Blacks were already normalilzed in the North. The reality of what you are watching in history, is Malcolm X was about to be assassanated by Elijah Mohammed.

I just love how articulate and unapologetic he is. How he educates them on matter of facts. The confidence that he shows and pride in who he is. Listening to him evokes pride in my spirit rejecting their attempts to diminish it.

One of the best things he did and he really grew as a person, after, as an individual with his own style created anew by his being inspired during his trip to Africa, and the renewed spirit he returned with changed him into a more tolerant, a more insightful and quite brilliant speaker and teacher, and as with JFK, his brother Robert, MLKJr and Malcolm, Fred Hampton, my heart barely withstood so much pain as their lives were cut short, and all on the same side of humanity, with so much good they would have gone on to do. Very sad. 'Riots are the calling out to be heard, having been silenced for so long.'
