Malofeyev Aleksandr (Russia) Title Laureate of the IVth Prize X International competition for Young Pianists in memory of Vladimir Horowitz (2013) Grieg. Concerto in A minor, II--III mov.
If you close your eyes before the pianist starts to play and after a few minutes one opens his eyes, you discover that it is a child that is playing this so difficult concerto, putting myself in his shoes it is unbelievable how being so young is able to play with such emotion as he were an adult. This is the sign of the talent indeed!
When I watch this, I can't help but think of Alexander's interview later where he mentions this performance as influencing him greatly...to want playing the piano as his profession. Oh, I wish him all joy and success in all his life's endeavors.
Oh dear kind Alexander, did you know then that you would one day soon lift the spirits of many, many around the world as we were "locked down" due to the cursed COvid?!! -- but here on the internet many have discovered your tremendous, beautiful skills on that glorious piano.
Please, someone!! Tell me how this young lad can possibly be this good at such a tender age. Truly extraordinary!!! Thank you ever so much, Alexander; I play your music every single day without fail. You bring me great joy!!!!
I was on a bus tour of Norway 40 years ago with my parents and asked the bus driver to play this piece for all of us while traveling through the beautiful countryside of Norway. I could only imagine Grieg seeing the countryside in his head as he was composing this piece. Also, it was great to watch and hear this piece played by such a young and brilliant pianist...bravo!!!
BRAVO!! Grieg at his very best!!! What Beautiful and STUNNING PERFORMANCE WITH THIS TALENTED YOUNG MAN, 11 yr old ALEXSANDRE MALOFEEV AND THIS MARVELOUS ORCHESTRA OF TALENTED MUSICIANS!! Thank you so very much!!
Omgosh.... from this performance to the current, Master Malofeev has blossomed into a truly brilliant and flawless pianist! Just a joy to listen to.... bravo!!!
Aleksandr Malofeev was just 11 years old when he performed this; and, in an interview, he has described it as an essentially transformative experience. It's a beautiful performance by both the orchestra and the soloist.
And God placed his hand on this boys shoulder and said “You will do things that others can’t no matter how hard they try. You will bring happiness and tears to many through your art.”
@@hirschowitz1 oh miss Jenny, be blessed as you teach the beautiful world of music to your students. Truly a wonderful gift for them AND for you. God bless.
No one mentioned below - ummm, he doesn't have any sheet music! That's amazing in and of itself. I am just discovering him recently through one of his newer videos last year. Wow!
Berliner , English is obviously not Rosario Varela's first language and it is good that this person wished to show his/her appreciation in a comment. You and I understood what Varela was trying to express.
Laurie Glascock ....I guess this venue couldn’t afford a second piano bench already adjusted to his specifications, after the pianist before him?? Seems like a simple time saving solution....
When I see a youngster play music, my mind goes back to when I learned a boy's fingers had been broken by the religious police in some Middle Eastern country because he was playing the flute. That was also destroyed because to the powers of that land music was ungodly and a ticket to hell. Hell being an important part of the religion of that country. Grieg's music is one ticket to paradise.
@Eve Wong. How I love your love for your friend and genius Alexander Malofeev ! Should I get a chance to speak with him a minute In Amsterdam Oct. 1st. 2022, I'll tell him how I love your videos of him. And Yes I watched in amazement at this video. 🌷🌷🌷 Bravo Sacha bravo.
@@evewong3221 Thank you. The Concertgebouw let me know by e-mail they will ask Sacha's accompanist and tour manager whether I may hand him my small gift. Otherwise I'll put it on the stage after his recital. It is sold out !
