MAMAMOO REACTION DEEP DIVE - I Say Mamamoo: The Best Album (part 1) 

Fun fact: Solar and Wheein rerecorded only a portion of their parts, Hwasa rerecorded most of hers and Moonbyul rerecorded ALL of her parts for the album! Also, Moonbyul was able to officially add her rap to a couple of old songs, in the end she gained 17 new song credits on this album.

So the good thing about this album is that these are pretty much all versions that they used in their concerts, but didn't have official recordings for. So you can see basically all these epic versions live.

It's my favourite album for sure, it's the versions I listen to the most because they sound more like watching them live and it's so much fun 😊

Seriously, not a single bad song on this compilation album and the "upgrades" especially paint me, gogobebe, egotistic are freaking awesome. This whole album is on my playlist.

I am pretty sure that Mamamoo is one of the only KPop groups to do a compilation album. I love all of the upgrades. Paint me, Starry Night, Egotistic; the orchestra just makes Paint me and Starry Night sound more epic. Love they even added the rock version of Gogobebe and Queendom version of Decalcomanie. I do miss Byul’s vocal verse from the original Paint Me, but the rap verse is great too as it has a similar lyric to the original vocal verse and we still do get some vocal Byul. In the original Byul’s verse is before Solar’s but in the orchestral version Solar’s verse is before Byul’s rap. I do love the 70-80s rock spin to You’re the best , the lover of classic rock loves it.

The Paint Me orchestra version goes hard

I consistently like the these versions better than the originals. Possible exception of Your the Best. That one I just find so funny to have Mamamoo doing ZZTop. These are all concert versions or award show versions or songs that were missing Moonbyul or replacing a feature with just Mamamoo members. Definitely my favorite album.

I love Mamamoo the best, this versions are perfect. I mean the originals are amazing but just being able to listen how their voices evolved is so so so incredibly perfect (for me obviously 😅). And well the fact that the songs they did with other singers are sung just by them it's my fav part. I'm biased with Mamamoo so I enjoy just listening to them without any other outside singer. 🤣

I absolutely adore this album. I definitely have a bias for the rock versions they did, but they are all so good!

Paint Me was a great song already but the orchestra version took it to the legend level. It's such a well written song.

You need to watch the live versions of Egotistic it slaps hard

I do love the updated Ah Oops a ton. And I appreciate them adding the live performance versions of their title tracks.

We all thought wheein unnie said that childish voice part in mumumuch. Then the moomoos requested that she do it so she does and it sounded just the same.

Pretty much all of these songs were done in their Live Streaming concert they did during Covid. I saw it all live when it happened and it was great. They made it a goal to film the entire 3+ hours on stage, joking on how they will use a toilet. They reprised not just songs but even the choreo like for their pre debut and debut songs. They also did a magic trick with a banner that said they basically will never stop being mamamoo. So technically if you can find videos of this, there would be live performances for every song. I love the originals but really most of my playlist start with these 2021 versions of these songs. Really women sound better than girls not that baby mamamoo is bad but they sound so so much better now at 30+ than early 20s. I did record the concert but I wont be putting that up on youtube myself.

I think that was Solar growling "beast" in Mumumumuch. Edit: the live version of the rock version of Gogobebe is better still. You'll see/hear why when you watch it. Edit 2: this version of You're the Best is now my second favorite song from them, exceeded only by Decalcomanie.

I got into Mamamoo late, but managed to acquire most of their old albums since their first (but was a pink ver) and when I got this, I was ecstatic! coz there were lots of photos from all their past promotion/comeback period. Importantly, I truly enjoy original versions and their remakes, especially when we get more Byul and Hwasa portions. If you are considering buying their physical albums (though i sub to Spotifty, I enjoy and appreciate playing their CDs in loop on an on-school boombox), I recommend this album. If you can get your hands on both the Korea and Japanese version, get both. OR, I recommend getting the Japanese version as it has an additional disc which is the Blu-ray of their WAW online concert. I have gotten their concert DVDs/Blu-ray, and if you enjoy their live and missed their concerts last year, their recorded performances are good enough "substitutes" to fill the gaps before our ladies possibly do world tours/concets as OT4 or solo.

I really like the r-18 songs that they made more sensually sounding. Hehe. And the part 2s of their songs are awesome.

A lot of these orchestral tracks were usually used on television stages or similar, used once and then forgotten.

All these remixes and rearrangements in this album are not songs, they're straight up experiences, and live? I can still recall the rumbling within my chest when I heard them live. I'm not exaggerating when I say nothing else compares 😫

I definitely prefer this version of you’re the best 🫣 and um oh ah yeh in the second part.

Unfortunately, I disagree. It's a terrible Best Off. A Best Off comprises of all the previous hit songs being collected together. What this album comprises of is some of the previous tracks and then reworked tracks which don't work for me. I would have purchased a copy if they hadn't messed about. If they had released a three disc version comprising two discs of the best and a further disc of reworkings I would have been happy. All my faves were reworked and affected. I get they were trying to appeal to the fans that already had the regular versions.
