Ikr, there have been many ppl saying "this ABC sound is what I will hear when entering heaven" "is XYZ the voices of angels?" BUT istg there is no other sounds which can give you goosebumps and ease EVERYTIME you hear it like Woo hoo intro.
@@elaraj7400 yea I’d agree.. I just called it whistle because that’s what everyone mistakenly calls it. I wish the live version was better quality because it sounds like she could have reached the whistle register in the version I’m thinking of.
I love in "Whoo Hoo" you ask where Moon is and then like a thriller movie you quickly ask again "Where's Moon-Byul!?" only to get hit in the face with Moon haha.

Funfact: The one effortlessly throwing out the whistle note and ending Mariah Carey's career at 5:24 is Wheein. Like, why not right? Also Funfact: Hwasa just casually throwing out her Cinderella shoe at 6:30 Also Gleam and Woo Hoo have got to be in my top 10 favourites of Mamamoo songs. It's insane how their commercial songs are of such a standard!
The thing both songs have in common is that they're from MMM's frequent songwriting/producing team of Cosmic Sound and Cosmic Girl. They've done a number of b-sides and CF songs with the girls that rank among their best songs. Cosmic Girl is a former member of gg RaNia named Yoo Jooyi who now concentrates on songwriting. She also uploads covers on her yt channel (she has a great voice) and often does duets with Solar on medleys for Solar's yt channel Solarsido. Cosmic Girl and Solar collabed on an unfortunately obscure song in 2018 called Lie Ya. Lie Ya has an r&b meets latin thing going on that's quite unique and it's one of a trio of r&b songs on my list of most underrated songs of 2018 along with Easy by Wheein and I'm Your Girl? by Khan (a now defunct duo who were beloved by many moomoos).
@@SinghReacts She's terrific and might be more your style than Khan, who are catnip to my furry feline ears. Khan (Jeon Minju & Euna Kim) were formerly members of The Ark and they also released a pre-debut collab and solo songs. I lump them all together. Their story is perhaps the saddest, cruelest waste of talent in kpop history. I believe they've both retired - Minju has been inactive and Euna moved back to the US and is working for a religious mission in Arizona.

@@SinghReacts I respect all the groups' talent and work even when it's not my style of music. But you know how top-tier sports players need to play against each other to get better? Solar, Wheein, Hwasa are all LeBrons by themselves that would dominate any standard group, but put them all together every day and they just make each other EVEN BETTER for years. Some might think of Moonbyul vocals as plain by comparison even though her time in Mamamoo has made her good enough to be Main Vocal in half the groups out there. Nobody, boy group or girl, can top them. You might be thinking Woo Hoo is their top tier of vocals but... you forgot the 2nd Law of Mamamoo: Live is better than recorded. It will become clearer when you get to Delilah from the original Immortal Songs performances (not the medley).
Woo Hoo is that song that makes you want to go straight to heaven right from the start. Then Wheein did the whistle and thats it, it killed me. Gleam is that song that visual overload everyone thought was a comeback but then ends up an ad for glasses.
In Woohoo, as far as i know in live performances, the climax part: Belting out two times - Solar The head tone run - Hwasa The whistle/ high head tone notes- Wheein. That Woohoo song was Mamamoo flexing their vocal strengths.
I had the same reaction to the start of Woo Hoo too. Remains one of my favorite songs to this day (CF song or not). You’re absolutely right about having the Mariah Carey feel/vibe. It never occurred to me! This is why I love watching reactions! Gleam is also on the daily playlist... actually I’m pretty sure 99% of Mamamoo’s catalog is on my daily playlist
Ha, that reaction at the start of "woohoo" is so very relatable, and it's one of the big reasons that song is always suggested. And loved. I mean, the whole song is great but just that intro... it's mindblowing As kudgeon mentioned, both songs were created by the creative duo of cosmic sound (producer/composer) and cosmic girl (singer/songwriter). "Woohoo" was before cosmic sound started using his audio tag of 'cosmic' near the start of anything he works on but you can hear it in "gleam". Many fans perk up when they hear that tag in a song because they expect electronica-infused greatness. There are several lives of both songs, mostly at concerts, though "woohoo" has been performed elsewhere, too. And there's a mmmtv episode that just has solar and wheein creating that intro harmony while fooling around, then bring hwasa in to join them "Gleam" actually has a bit of wordplay in it for those that speak korean. The company it's an ad for is davich optical, often called davichi in korea and the song's title is "da bichi na" or 'everything gleams' which is also in the chorus. So they're basically getting you to sing the company's name throughout the song. Cosmic girl likes to do such wordplay in the cf songs she works on, having done similar in both "everyday" (yogurt) and "wanna be myself" (athletics/athleisure wear). And it pretty much goes without saying but byul wrote her raps in all those songs. Kudgeon mentioned cosmic girl's "lie ya" with solar but she also performed a few medleys with solar on her yt channel, and has her own yt channel where she often uploads covers (including some songs she's written) Also, another song i always think of when watching "gleam" is "honeybee", a random collab solar did with vocalists from two other girl groups, luna of f(x) and hani of exid. The only reason these songs remind me of each other is that their mvs have the women dancing on lanes in bowling alleys
They got a lot of ad songs because i believe a lot of brands in korea trust them as a group and as individuals. They also have individual endorsements. And the companies never regret it because mamamoo produces SALES! Always exceeding expectations! Those companies had record sales after partnering with Mamamoo.

Can't wait for you to listen to Wanna Be Myself (another CF), personally, my favorite of them all, and a bop! Like usual, everything Mamamoo touches becomes GOLD. ps. There is another CF for a videogame, it's called Sky!Sky! but the video is... cringey, even the girls don't like it nsdkjcfnks, but honestly, the song is super cool and something you never thought you would see from Mamamoo, for sure. I've seen quite a few vocal coach/singer reactions to this song and most people agree it's just insanely high head voice, but boy does it take a few listens before people are able to conclude whistle note or not, heh. As far as I've seen, both Hwasa and Wheein are capable of these borderline whistles (and moonbyul can hit a stunning flawless D7 in her sleep 😔😔😔😔 no cap)

It's short, and damn sexy, and looks AMAZING!), do an innocent style of choreo, and then to top it off, the director made them FLY in the video, and it just looks silly. Hi there! Most of MMM’s CFs (including these 2 songs) are produced by Cosmic Girl & Cosmic Sound, another in-house producers of RBW. I’m telling you RBW is a place of geniuses. On of my most fave MMM b-side song is actually by the Cosmic duo. It’s called MYSTAR. A song they only perform in live concerts.

@@SinghReacts ikr. I didn't noticed it at first and also the other times I've watched it but I think the reactor from Form of Therapy saw it and I then realized it at that point that there is indeed a cut to that part. But its subtle so its not noticeable.
There are actually at least two cuts, not including the stylistic ones during byul's rap (...yes, i've watched this mv way too many times). First one is after the zoom in on hwasa while they're wearing sunglasses (before it zooms in, wheein is on the left wearing sunglasses, when zooms back out she's stepping to the left with glasses in hand) and another when hwasa is putting on the pink jacket (you can see byul just pop into existance behind her). Still amazing that they managed to do this with so few cuts
