He's saying "look at how amazing of a person I am marrying someone from a third world country"; which is surprisingly a common attitude with foreigners here in the Philippines. And secondly, referring to her as "my Filipino wife" or "my wife in the Philippines" creates a physical distance that would justify him cheating.
