you can see the excitement in his face when he realizes theres finally a real life application for the skill hes been working on for years that everyone told him was a waste of time;)
@@vmm5163 nothing is by chance. He ,in the grand scheme, learned how to slackline so that he could save him. The universe is strange, but this was amazing.
@@Lagger-HD in a way I really believe that. Not religious at ALL. Anti religious. But often when you pay attention things seem to unfold a certain way.
I got tears when Mickey Wilson said, "I looked at that tower, and I said, I can climb that tower, I can scoot down it and I can rescue him"... He did not say, "Somebody better do something".. He said, "Here am I, send me".
@@ilovfood In modern society, there is something called the bystander effect, meaning, if there is a large group of people watching someone being attacked or even dying, they assume someone else will jump in and do something, so they just watch and do nothing. Cell phone recording has taken this form of insanity to a whole new level, "devolution" of human consciousness. You are right, it's more than sad, it's horrific. Lucky for him, his friends and the patrols were not these kind of people, they did everything they could, and it worked. Many times, it doesn't.
@@Quantum36911 it is important in emergency situations that if you know you’d become another casualty, not to get involved. This guy had the right skills for the situation. If I tried that, I’d be another body medical personnel had to deal with. Bystander effect is real, I’ve seen it in action with situations I’ve had to respond to. People can still be helpful in emergency situations, just not as a rescuer. Keeping rubberneckers and people will cellphones at bay, for example.
@@cursedwithsetience4017 Good point, very true. But you had a human response, a desire to help in some way, assessing the situation to see how you could help, not pulling out your phone to record someone suffering and dying as if you were watching tv. You are a rescuer too, a part of the solution, not the problem. What did you experience?
@@Quantum36911 I worked at scout camps in the USA. There were a few broken bones, allergic reactions, and a nasty knife wound from a wood carving accident. I’ve been certified in emergency aid (not a first responder, but how to react and help in a situation), so protocol has been drilled into my head. I haven’t had any rescues as intense as the one in this video. Surprisingly, they’re a bit uncommon.
yeah, I can't brush my teeth with a broken hand... you know coordinating toothpaste, toothbrush etc. he catches a knife in one try while dangling of a slackline and rescuing a guy. wow.
I think it was just a coincidence, not a God send. Have you read the Bible? God is a cruel, vindictive character. He even promised a gift of land, but made the people go to war for it. That's not a gift, is it?
@@Well_possibly im not religious but according to the bible god already gifted you the planet and your life and body. besides he doesn't give out gifts like that. he demands extraordinary sacrifice. from abraham when he almost had him kill his son (messed up, seriously) from moses when he had the people wander 40 years in a desert, from noah when he had him build a huge boat, from lot who had his wife turn into salt, and even his son jesus had to endure savage torture and a full evening of being taunted by the devil. and finally from the israelites who he commanded destroy the enemies of israel so that it would prosper. many times he genocides people like the people in the flood, like the people in sodom and ghomorra and finally the canaanites (i think it's the canaanites who the israelis slaughter?)
@@basteagui "(God) doesn't give out gifts like that. he demands extraordinary sacrifice." You're helping support my comment. Anyone reading want to explain why the Promised Land is called a gift, when it clearly wasn't?
@The Shadow Should I be concerned that your wrote that supporters of BLM need to be (killed). You also call people "douche bag" and wrote to me "shut your pie hole." Where is the peaceful, mild and loving demeanor Jesus supposedly modeled for you? Please don't write to me unless you can have a civil dialog, and stop being upset when I depict God just as the Bible depicts him.
Ok, but why do they keep saying he's his friend if that guy was a stranger to him? His actual friends couldn't reach him. They could just say skilled stranger saves strangling man.
Having meeded to be hospitalized due to being imapled by a multi tool in my jacket i wouldnt reccomend it. But it sure asf would have helped in this scenario. Didnt help for me tho
@@sazcxieo Lol wherever you live sucks. I can carry a concealed pistol, another one openly on my hip and an ar15 slung across my chest. All without a license. Go Arizona!
Look at that, this guy had training on something, he thought would never come in hand. Wow, it did come in handy. He was able to say this friends life.. What a great man, a Hero in my eyes..♥️
Wow. The act of bravery this guy had to rescue someone, is incredible! Not only that but to have someone who is a slack liner and knows how to crawl across a cable, is nothing short of miraculous.
Gosh! He doesn't think he's a hero..he caught the knife on the first try! And does this with a broken hand! What a hero! Wow, I love his humbleness. I'm sitting here crying for joy,..bless him!❤️😀
This is how we need to treat each other!! Step in to help when someone is in need. Life is fleeting and can be taken from us in a second. Had all those people not tried to help I’m pretty sure that would have been a very sad news story rather than the one we just saw. Love and respect each other out there!
Same thing happened to me,...my waist strap got caught and I couldn’t get off the lift....I just had to ride it down and get yelled at lol I was lucky compared to this guy. I changed to a shoulder strap inside of my coat
I am in awe of the slackliner....never heard of this before. What a hero. Why have I not heard of this before. God bless you young man for your bravery and skill.
yeah, ever tried to coordinate brushing your teeth with a broken hand, you know, toothpaste, toothbrush etc? ... I just can't believe he pulled that off. incredible
Slackliners sit many times.....even bouncing wildly, going from sitting to standing over and over, flying over 5 feet vertically. Plus the downhill slope of the cable may have made it a little easier for him to scoot along. I'm not saying it wasn't amazing, because it was!
God saves so few. How many die per day around the world of lack of clean drinking water alone? If God were good, wouldn't he inspire lift designers to make seats that can't allow a person to dangle like that? Couldn't God have moved the victim to buckle his backpack?
@@Well_possibly You're just trolling anyone who makes any mention of Him. Though he is always there, He is only visible to those with eyes to see - that is all you are experiencing. I know that doesn't make much sense to you, but maybe I can pray for you.
@@erikadelgado206 horrible things happen to people that are religious as well though. the other poster had serious questions though, isn't it good to be skeptic of things?
@@Iris-fp4uk I don't understand your argument. @well possibly was leaving these kinds of responses on at least 5 different comments that I saw - one or two is mere curiosity and 5 or more becomes trolling. Why do you, or anyone, believe that they are entitled to anything, whether it be God's protection or anything else? The fact is that God does not owe anyone anything. Human beings are to blame here - don't blame Him. I don't believe God has the power to simply end all suffering - and if he did what would you have him do just zap out ALL evil from the world? He would kill us ALL off because we are all sinners in one way or another... you don't get to choose which sinners get to stay.. The fact is our suffering is a direct result of our own actions. Sometimes we suffer for the actions of other human beings, yes. And we do believe that sometimes He does intervene, yes. However, I think this is done for a much larger purpose than what can be explained here. I think there are many legitimate reasons for the existence of suffering, such as being a catalyst for growth and development. How can one grow and learn to be compassionate without witnessing or experiencing the opposite? Eastern philosophies and religions understand this - as ying and yang. Again, why some people think we are entitled to pick and choose is beyond me. It does not make some atrocities RIGHT - but do not blame GOD - blame MAN. Okay?
I just didn't realize that religion was supposed to be some kind of protection from evil and suffering. I always understood religion to be a guiding source to understanding ourselves, the world, and the experience of suffering. It is a framework with which we can develop as human beings to our fullest potential and highest good.
No, it was just a set of totally natural circumstances that happened to coincide. Imaginary friends don’t exist. Magic isn’t real. There is only the natural world, and there is only good evidence of the natural world. There is not a single shred of good evidence for anything other than the natural world. It’s time to stop believing in primitive fairy tales and superstitions that are so foolish and silly that young children regularly see through them.
Jesus Fried Christ - ??? Where did I say magic is real? I’m sorry life has been so awful to you to have made you so hateful and cynical. You’re in my prayers.
Stu Str - I disagree. Based on the vitriol in his reply, he equates a faith in God with belief in magic. In actuality, they are vastly different things. That was no figure of speech.
Holy shit I never heard of this goddamn LEGEND AND HERO! Also A-basin knows wtf they are doing, this was not a problem with the resort. That Micky is a badass through and through
To be honest and real, I’m surprised it doesn’t happen way more often. If you think about how many people ride a lift in one day at a busy resort. I bet you it happens all the time, just not to this magnitude. It’s happened to me before, but the bag is on my lap and the buckles still got caught in between the slats in the chair. That’s why I give myself plenty of time when getting off the chair, make sure you got all your shit in order before you slide off!
The perfect bloke to have around if it wasnt for that bloke the other bloke hanging was gone or a vegtable hanging by the neck for so long waiting on ambos or rescue theres no better person than him his mate was lucky he was there in that situation with no equipment there was none better
Super cool! As a MTB'er my friends and I have been hurt many times over the decades. It's at these moments that you see what you and others around you are really made of. After a crash nobody laughs until we know the person is ok. I would be proud to call this guy my friend and he can ride with me anytime.
While I get your point you have to admit that lift served skiing at areas does involve a bit of the technocracy. Don't get me wrong I live simply and ski often but it does take some technological science and engineering to make that stuff happen.
@@JohnSmith-rr2ti I used to work at a ski resort. It was a PRIMARY responsibility of the chair lift operator to look for & identify & prevent this from happening. You would not have been ALLOWED to even get on a lift I was operating with those straps or any other thing dangling.
@@peach495 Lol. Next thing you will want us to do is carry our balls onto your lift... What will you not ALLOW me to do next...? Research "personal responsibility" before you respond again...I won't ALLOW you not to.
@@JohnSmith-rr2ti Jesus what a dumb fuck. These were the fucking rules the company made me enforce you fucking idiot. Maybe perhaps because they're a responsible company & are proactive in not wanting people killed at their resort?
Did you just call me or Jesus a dumb fuck? Oh I guess me, since you also just called me a fucking idiot. But you responded before doing what I TOLD you to do...shame on you. Perhaps you will understand one of these days.
This guys quick thinking, and expertise in the fast response. Saved the other man’s life! Had they waited for a real mountain rescue team. He certainly would have died. A real hero.
