Why should she feel thankful to a total stranger? It is not like this young woman knew of his existence 5 seconds ago, she has no obligation toward him. She was sufficiently sad for him, like you'd be for a disappointed stranger who thought you were his child (a thought she did not put in his head) but it turns out you are not.

The adopted mother acted like she didn't know how the birth mother got it, but it was from the CFS. He knew she'd been adopted.

How were they making him look bad? None of what he said added up. The adoptive mom had the daughter DNA tested about four times, but was never informed "he" was the bio dad, yet "he" ended up paying child support? If he wasn't in contact with the bio mother how "did" he get that photo? This whole episode made no sense. At least make sense even if it's just for show.

All I was thinking while watching was what a cocky little B. She could've been more civil to try and find out the truth

He is a literal stranger to her, an unwanted stranger. She has no emotional attachment to him. He and the birth mother are legal and literal strangers to her. Her emotional and psychological parents are the ones who adopted and raised her. What do people expect...for her to run up to him crying, "Daddy where have you been all my life?" Even if he was her birth father, she has a Daddy and it ain't him. He is going to have to deal with his own feelings, healing and issues that resulted from the birth mother's and his actions/decisions and not try to put the burden on her. She clearly said and showed from first contact that she has no interest in a relationship with him. You can't make someone love you or want to be with you. Some adoptees want a relationship/contact with their birth parents...some don't. Just like, some birth parents want a relationship/contact with the children they gave up for adoption and some don't. If they are not both in agreement then it's not happening and you can't guilt the person into being part of your life.

I agree. I think her attitude is coming from a place of self-protection. It doesn't excuse it, but it's a factor. Being an adoptee no matter how great your adoptive parents are, is complex.

She's not going to accept every stranger that says he's her father. She'd never heard of him so of course she's going to be wary. Considering he's not her father shows that she was correct from the beginning 🙄

After 20 years, what should expected from the young woman or the mother that raised her from infancy? They don't know him. They hadn't ever heard of him. And he is NOT the biological father. He thought he was and I feel sorry for him, because his real daughter is still out here, somewhere, so he has to keep looking.

If so, that was not the adoptive parents but the bio mother. She's the one that pulled a slick one over him.

Unfortunatly because his name on the birth certificate if he signed it he was the legal father even if not paternal father. So whoever signs birth certificate has legal obligation even if not biological father.

It's a common problem where biological parents who abandon their kids or absent parents who wanted nothing to do with their kids when they were younger to want to "reconnect" when the kids are older and got their life together.

Supermanis4real Pastor Dixon He didn’t pay for 20 years, he paid until her legal adoption went through. I think they were a little unclear about this in the show. The state takes the money & uses the money to offset the costs to pay for the child in foster care. Once the adoption went through which I suspect was at 2 years old when he flew back to Alaska & he got the picture from her Mom he stopped paying ( and he would have had to sign over his parental rights nobody is talking about this )

he NEVER said he paid child support for 20 years.....also you only pay until the child turns 18....the adoptive parents did NOT get the money....that's not how it works.....educate yourself

He created “this mess” by abandoning a helpless infant girl. He didn’t want her. Thank goodness she was adopted by loving parents. If he was an unselfish, kind, understanding person, he would know that the girl will need to process some emotions (pain /anger /confusion /whatever). Kayla also caught him lying when he initially claimed to be unable to contact the birth mom, and later admits the birth mom sent him a photo of her.

I hope you and your father find each other. But we can't expect for other people to feel the same about their biological mother and father. Adopted children should be able to be adopted and happy with there adopted families with out making them feel bad for not searching, or even wanting a relationship with there biological families, because at the end of the day they are strangers and did not raise them. We can't expect them to want the same as us. She did not want them to be looking for her and that doesn't make her a bad person. Her perents made the mistake not her and they can't expect her to be open arms just because they feel bad.

One should not assume anything by her attitude. She has only known one set of parents her entire life, and this gentleman made contact with her out of the blue, telling her that she was his biological daughter. I think she was trying to protect herself. How would you feel if someone came to you and told you that they were your biological parent? Having been through that myself, it's frightening to think that you don't know who someone is, but they have convinced themselves that you are their child. I too had to go through a DNA test to prove that claim false. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I was relieved when I was able to prove that the "stranger" was not my biological father. I understand that he has spent a long time looking for his child, but people have to understand that when he made contact with her, it threw her world into turmoil. Ok so she isn't as welcoming as some would be, but some adopted people do not want to know about their biological parents. Seems to me like he sort of pushed himself into her life, especially when he went to her social media and made a public post. We also knew that he had not made any contact with the adoptive parents. A lot of lives were affected. She doesn't have to be friendly with him. She has every right to be reserved and distant until the DNA results are in. Self preservation is a natural defense mechanism that humans have. You can't just drop into someone's life and expect a good result. My heart goes out to him because he wanted, and convinced himself, that she was his child. I hope that he will be able to find his daughter and hopefully begin to build a healthy relationship with her. I am equally sure that she has no ill will towards him, as obvious from the emotional reaction that she had. It's just a very unfortunate situation . My heart goes to both parties, it's definitely life altering to suddenly get such a shock. She's probably been through far more emotional stress about this than anyone knows.

He’s just another number her biological mom slept with. I totally understand her disposition. It may seem rude, because of HIS emotional attachment to his story. But she’s being truthful; she’s protecting her heart. She has no emotion, no connection to him, or his story of the mother and their baby. Children have a right to know who their parents are. And when they do not, it is NOT their fault! Their pain, their emotions, their reaction, or way of coping is never wrong or invalid!
