Awesome comment that mate 😊👍🏾 we’re all football fans at the end of the day and I’ve found having an open mind just allows you to enjoy so much more football has to offer 🙌🏾 my mums side of the family are from Aston & all support Villa, but try telling a 5 year old to be rational when his dad & friends at school are all going up to Old Trafford to watch Fergie’s United… most 5 year olds will do the same thing 😅

I suppose Somerset isn’t far from Gloucestershire so you can see where I’m coming from with this 😅👍🏾 anyone under the age of 40 could care less where a fan is from but lots of the older generation forget the Premier League is now a GLOBAL super league as you mentioned mate… I remember on Ben Fosters podcast last year he was saying how he saw Brighton, Wolves, etc shirts in America 🇺🇸 crazy

@@RysFootyParadise The club are a little confused on it, they do push the 1880 St Mark’s stuff at times because it’s an interesting story but then we have 1894 on our badge, there’s the 1894 corporate suite in the club, City’s customer service number for ticket queries literally ends in 1894 which is by design and they quote 1894 a lot generally. There’s a fan group designed for the purpose of atmosphere, basically a bunch of young lads who the club give preference in tickets behind the goal to… who are named “the 1894 group”, a bit like that Utd group who are in your singing section. If anyone is truly interested in Manchester sporting history, Dr Gary James is the place to start reading, he’s a Manchester based sports historian, who’s written books on City and Utd. He’s a City fan so does a bit more on City but he’s fair to Utd also. He claims that 1894 is the correct foundation year for City and Ardwick and St Marks that came before were separate entities.

Yeah that makes sense, the guides did say the plan was for City to go there pre Commonwealth games. I know old Trafford is in a sorry state atm but I still don’t want us to move. I couldn’t imagine watching United anywhere else

The commonwealth stadium wouldn't even have been built if the local council hadn't of got complete agreement beforehand from City that they would move there ..... City agreed to pay the local council a percentage of gate takings for home games at the new ground, for gates above the attendance average at Maine Road ...... most of the council bosses at Manchester City Council back then were City fans, so City were always gonna be offered this new ground first. MCFC is the ONLY club in Britain to have been founded by a woman ... Anna Connell, who was an instrumental figure at the church you mention, St Marks, West Gorton.

They are actually very sturdy it was an unprecedented storm , I was at the time a program seller ( thankfully inside the stadium ) and they didn’t call the match off until 2 hours before KO ! Really enjoyed your vid , haven’t done a city stadium tour for over a decade and it’s obviously changed drastically in that time . Definitely planning another one soon @@RysFootyParadise

Those spiral walkways... I'm 6ft, the height of the wall would be around upto my stomach, then there's a small gap, with a metal railing above that so it's perfectly safe. (Season ticket holder, East Stand Level 3) Have more concern for the drunks in the upper tiers inside the stadium as they can be quite steep

@@RysFootyParadise Yeah no worries mate. You were very fair. Cheltenham and Gloucester are a very well known Supporters Club. Dedicated fans. We also have a great Scandinavian following (think most Premier League clubs do, especially if you were successful in the 70s).

@@RysFootyParadise Yep huge interest. The Scandinavia branch is by far the biggest branch of the City Supporters Club. Not surprised by your remarks about Copenhagen. It's about three miles but I've never been back since we left. I know people who have and without exception they told me not to go. I don't think I ever will. I've seen other football RU-vidrs go there but none of them were City fans. Leaving Maine Road was the right thing for the club but it's still a void that will never be filled.
