@@LorraineHinchliffe-vg5cb I've still got my ticket aswell I took some turf home and put it in a box on windowsill in my bedroom ahhhhhhhhhh I'm fifty five now my god where as time gone
Captain marvel, Bryan Robson & Mark Hughes, Norman Whiteside, Paul Mcgrath were my favourite players back in the 80s. Big Ron said these games were like Vietnam.
This was the golden age of the United - Liverpool rivalry. Football was miles better then. It was less popular than it is now and there were less tourists and trendies. The game doesn't mean shit now compared to this.
It's crazy how events could have turned out differently in 1988/89. When I think about it, in the odd reflective moment. If we'd beaten Forest in the Cup Quarter Final in that season, Hillsborough doesn't happen. As we'd have played Liverpool at Maine Road or Goodison again. That disallowed goal in our game against Forest, which should have been given. How things turn out.........
He nearly decapitated McMahon at Anfield straight after coming on as sub at Anfield and that was the Scouser out of the game. Paisley was very critical of McMahon, making out he was a bully who could give it but not take it. Big Norm of course is/was a legend.
Let's just put to bed that Sparky was offside.....pause when Strach's plays the pass through, Hughesie was at least level with no.4 and possibly another defender too.
@@robicenco1701if Robbo had stayed fit for the whole of the 85/86 season, and Hughes wasn't going to be sold to Barcelona, which he found out about and he stopped scoring, do you think we would have won the title that season?? Especially as we were still 4 points clear at Christmas??
I never liked Brain Moore. He hated United and loved Liverpool. If there was a choice I always watched the unbiased Coleman or Davies on the BBC, rather than ITV.
Were we fuck. We fully deserved it. My Dad went to both games. Unfortunately I was too young to go to this game as it was midweek. School the next day. I said to my Dad “ well you’ve got work the next day “ and he said “ I’m the adult, I can do what I want “. Cheers Dad!! Brilliant night.
