Childhood friends, Koushik, Sachin and Sanketh, grew up in Kundapur, fascinated by the teeming variety of marine produce brought in by boats to the fishing ports of South Canara. The boys found themselves pursuing engineering degrees in Bengaluru, yet dreaming of seafood. Upon completing their studies, the engineers returned to Kundapur, built a food truck, roped in a village cook, before driving back to Bengaluru to launch their ‘Mangalore in Bangalore’ sea food enterprise. I visit them on a rainy evening for an interesting chat, and return mighty impressed with the marine spread on offer, the un-compromised rustic flavour of most of the dishes that I taste, and their commitment to offering fresh seafood at honest prices.
