It would be nice to know what the taste profile is from top to bottom and skin to seed. Indian, IndoChinese, West Indian, versus Central American. Also what varieties are good in 20-25 gallon patio pots. Maybe a spread sheet to analyze. Will check and see what Alex has done.
Planted a Julie, Nam Doc Mai #4, Julieta March of this year. Dwarf Hawaiian in April. All 3 gallon plants from Chris. Interested as to which will be robust enough to support fruit first. Hopefully harvesting Summer of 2025 🙏
I have a small Julie. Second year it produced. First year I think it was small but it did fruit but the fruit fell off. This year it put out about 20 + and now they are starting to drop and a lot of new pinnacles are coming out again with the few that remain. Any tips to keep the rest from falling off?? Should I trim some flowers off to save energy for the remaining fruit ?
My 7yr old Julie has absolutely gone bonkers setting fruit this year...I have several stages of development from plum sized fruit to still putting off new flowers. I wouldn't be surprised if we get 30+ mangos this year! The most I have harvested previously is about six. Anyone experiencing the same due to weather or is it just the trees time? Also, I have it planted close to a lake...so its tap root might have finally found the water table. I am about 10 miles due south of Truly Tropical.
I have the same going on on my Julie in a large pot. It’s about 3-4’ tall by 4’ wide. Had a lot of fruit but they are not keeping but 1 or 2 on each branch. And now more flowers are coming out. Any thoughts on keeping the rest from dropping ? Also I live in the fl keys
How did the fruit end up? Interesting that you have the mango that close to water….from what I understand, mangoes don’t like a lot of water. I guess this one likes it!
@@scottburgle4889 ended up with about 10...although squirrels got to a few of them. It's a unique planting near the water. In essence it is a raised bed as I have terraced the land towards the water. So it's roots stay dry except for the deepest. I have already gotten few flowers and a couple fruit sets (bout the size of a unshelled almond) this year...all on the more shaded side if the tree.
Hi Greetings Chris I also made some video on Just 8 Feet Dwarf & Semidwarf mangoes if u have time please🙏🏻 Cross check that 18 varieties and add some that are suitable to your climate
FYI. I bought a Super Julie last year. I live in Punta Gorda, FL and the dang frost we had hurt my flowers. It put out one more flower after the frost and I have 4 or 5 mangos that are plum size so hopefully I get a couple mangoes this year?
No disrespect... but most mango trees... planted in the ground can grow monstrously. But benevolent monsters! Show pics of mango trees at 50+years... 100' Haydens
