Productive Mango Varieties in South Florida Older varieties * Duncan (hangs in clusters ; can bear so heavily that branches break) * Kitt (usually get several (2-3) crops per season ; Jun/July - Aug/Sep is the season) * Turpentine (juice mango, not a dessert mango; popular flavor) * Rosa (earliest fruiting variety (starts in Mar/Apr and as early as Feb; will produce through Jun) ; usually get several crops; from Brazil) * Dwarf Hawaiian (sets 2-3 crops of fruit) Newer varieties * Sweet Tart (does well in all sorts of conditions) * K3 (aka 'Kathy') (from Gary Zill, can bear so heavily that branches break so keep branches shorter and keep clusters thinned) * Pickering ( produces from a young age and does well in all sorts of conditions * Honey Kiss (related to Kitt ; thin fruit a bit because it produces a lot) * Venus ( can bear so heavily that branches break so keep branches shorter and keep clusters thinned) Disqualified: * Tommy Atkins (productive but not good) * Philippine (Unreliable) * Valencia Pride (Unreliable)

Love from Bangladesh. You should definitely try raising Bangladeshi mango trees like Amrupali, lengra, Harivanga, Himsagar etc. These are not better looking mangoes but taste wise these are really awesome. Their brix is also above 20. I can confirm you won't be disappointed.

Hi Chris, not that mango trees grow from cuttings, but the technique that you remove leaves about a week prior before harvesting scion wood, do you think that would work when collecting cuttings of plants that can be propagated that way? Or would you just cut and stick?

I'm surprised you pruned now, but understand why you did. Of the trees you pruned, is it less likely they'll bloom this season now? My trees all have blooms. Even the Ugly Betty I picked up from you a few years ago.

Add nutrients to your mango tree...like micrrohizzae....its a nutrient for your tree to produce more fruit. Also fertilize your tree and it will be way more productive.
