Ok, just 1 thing. Castle Age comparison? I wonder how Kipchak fares against other cav archers and Mangudai in castle age when nobody has access to bracer or final armor upgrade. Top 5 cav arch civs had early castle age, late castle age and post imperial comparisons, so I'm just trying to hold You up to Your standards ;)

My parents told me the story of brave cuman warriors who had to stuff 30 or so arrows in the horse's ass every time they went to battle. Some felt it was more difficult than the war itself.

In the Tatars Civ Overview I made a comment asking how much of a difference that +1p armour makes to Tatar cav archers, and now Spirit confirms that they are right up there with Turks and Magyars. Combined with the free thumb ring and parthian tactics techs I honestly think Tatars have the best normal cav archers in the game, especially since its a staple of their basically all cavalry army. Thumb ring is an annyoing but vital deviation that you must make if you are trying to get cav archers out quick, and free parthian tactics in imp age gives you an immediate power spike with extra P armour and damage vs halbs. Turk cav archers are great but are rare to see since Turk players usually stick to a gunpowder strategy, and Magyar cav archers are generic before their imp tech, and Magyars themselves lack a decent eco bonus. Tatar longer lasting sheep is a highly underrated bonus that gives you a lot of extra food and lets you put off making farms and save wood for potentially the whole dark age depending on the map. Tatars are definitely my favourite civ!

I hope you consider making a few more videos like this, comparing the features of units of a specific type.

Thrilled to see the Saracen cavalry archers doing what they do best in that cameo!

Several years ago, before we had Tartars and Cumans added, I was thinking of a neat unique mechanic for these civilizations. To depict their huge hordes of calavlry archers in real life, I thought maybe the Tartars or the Cumans, if they were ever to be added, should get a unique tech that removes gold cost from their horse archers, similar to the way the Malay have a technology that removes the gold cost from their two-handed showrdsemen. To counterbalance it, the Tartars (or Cumans) could've had heavy calalvy archers removed from their tech-tree, similar to how the Malay don't have Champions. As a result, the Tartars (or the Cumans) could've had a very unique trash unit in the Imperial age - horse archers that don't cost any gold! Now that would've been a sight to see! Hordes and hordes of horse archers! And not like the cheap but weak genitours of the Berbers, no! Real horse archers that cost no gold!

I've always loved Cavalry archers since AOE1, they make you feel assured that if your melee units need to retreat, you'll always have someone covering them.

Would love to see a comparison with the camel archer as well. Obviously they have an advantage against other c.a. type units but in general i feel they're harder to get to than other units.

In age of kings, cavalry archers need 70 gold and just 3 range. I used to think this unit is almost as expensive as knight but doesn't do any shit.

i liked that you included the graph of damage output per ressources spent and mention the easier micro of Mangudai because rewatching your top 10 cav archer civ video, the Mangudai had bad results and almost felt like a disappointment, but pro players always rank it the best (unique) unit in the game

I think the steady and fast flow of arrows from Mangudai is still preferable to the "burst" damage of Kipchak. Helps mitigate overkill damage.

Don't underestimate the Kipchak's micro. They're deadly for raiding prior to ballistics. Generally as Cumins you're trying to attack earlier in the game, and the Kipchak's lower cost and powerful raiding potential makes it perfectly suited for that.

Got to be honest - I'd really have liked to see their castle age variants and how good they all are at raiding during that time - as that's often when it's most feasible and damaging, compared to the Imperial age. What about the extra arrows attacking villagers on farms? Would those missed shots obnoxiously reduce those farms health slightly leading to the enemy being frustrated to death by slightly red health bars all over their base? These are vital questions!!

Spirit, I always wanted to know how heavy infantry fares against cavalry, factoring the new infantry tech supplies with different civs, like vikings, japanese, burmese, aztecs, goths, malay, bulgarian, etc. Longswords vs Knights, in Castle Age Champions vs Paladins, in Imperial Age

I appreciate this channel, don’t get me wrong, but I never play this game based on math... I like to have fun with building societies and making armies look and fight well. I think this only increases my appreciation for the game itself, because anybody can enjoy it in a different way. I choose to play it without thinking of the programmed benefits and disadvantages of units or damage output, but enjoy using my inklings of historical knowledge to build a fun army

Camel archers, conquistadors, arambai? Maybe war wagons? Anyway, "What's the difference?" is a good question for an aoe series. I could also see potential for comparing those numerous fast infantry units: Woad Raiders, Shotels, Condottieri, Karambits, Berserks

Something very important: Kipchaks are the only one of the 3 that can trade well enough against Skirms while those completely counter the other two without micro.

Vietnamese Cavarly also have a 20% HP boost, but unlike Franks, they have Bloodlines and Bracer.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about hit and run value, being Kipchaks the best for it by far.
