Very Interesting. I think you can get a good workflow on this module b, when you know it well. Thanks for showing us tom!

Thank you, Tom, for your review video, and we also appreciate the feedback from the comments section. We have taken all your input to heart, and we will continue to improve. Regarding the issue Tom mentioned in the video about the scale and module powering on and off separately, we’d like to clarify: the design of our product is fully modular, which can result in a bit more complicated operation. However, this feature was specifically designed to prevent any confusion when both modules are in use simultaneously. Thank you again for all your suggestions, happy brewing everyone :)

I was pretty hyped when I found the Kickstarter campaign for this scale. After all the price was a bit too hefty for me even with the wireless display. This review is pretty complete and now I feel relieved having spent my money on other stuff.

Certainly can see the potential benefit of having the detachable read out, however, complicated operations equals future problems and frustration. I don’t need all that info and it’s much too pricey for me. I’ll stick with my $20 Amazon special that has simple weight and timer functions. Keep up the good work Tom. Enjoy your videos, been quite helpful.

Thanks for the review Tom! It seems they have some innovative ideas, although the execution is off the mark. I can see some of their ideas integrate into Semi-automatics. There are only few espresso machines have the scale build-in, and we can see the potential here.

150 USD for an inaccurate gimmicky scale. No thank you. A 10$ amazon scale does the job & is fairly accurate.

I bought scale for 11€ from Temu, its identical to Timemore B22, probably from the same factory

Well, we can't say it's inaccurate since I don't have a calibration weight. All we know is that the scales deviate from one another.

Hey Tom for those prices those scales should come with a free 50gm or 100gm calibration weight. I would contact them and ask them about it. What if you were measuring gold? 😁😁

Totally agree. I have a pair of Timemore scales that I’ve had for a few years. A Basic+ and a Nano. About a year ago, the Nano had a problem and was showing 20g as something like 6.7g. The first time it happened was, fortunately pretty obvious and equally fortunate I had the second scale to use, but I had a really hard time fixing the Nano. Resetting, turning it off/on, killing the battery and recharging…. Nothing worked. By a weird coincidence, the week before I had seen a pair of calibration how to videos for each scale on my suggestion feed. So after a lot of messing around, talking with the seller, distributor and eventually Timemore (I was out of warranty) I decided to try re-calibrating the scale. What a nightmare that was. Timemore scales require 4 or 5 different weights running from 20 to 2000g (I think, running off of memory here). I looked for weights online and I could only find really 2 kinds: lab grade weights that were hundreds to thousands of dollars, or sets on Amazon that were relatively cheap and of unknown accuracy. The latter were mostly sets with a ton of very small weights, and I’d still have to buy 1 or 2 heavier weights separately to get all the weights I needed. When all was said and done, I was looking at the better part of a new scale’s cost to get all the bits I needed. I eventually created the weights I needed using the working Basic+ as a reference, but what a pain in the ass! The hardest were the smallest and largest weights. In between, I could use a vessel (in one case an RDT bottle, in the other a shot glass) with water that I could add to drop by drop to get the weight right. All told, fooling around with the weights to get them right took a few hours. If I were a place selling coffee gear, I would invest the $100-$150 CAD to get the weights and charge ten dollars a go for calibration of customer’s scales. I’ll be honest, I would have paid 20 at the time. Scale makers should offer calibration sets for their products. As far as I know, only Acaia does so. I’d buy one in a minute, if Timemore did so.

I haven't found a scale I trust at the price point I'm willing to pay for! Also, has to fit under a Dedica.

Tom… by stacking the scales in that way surely the weight displacement will be different on each readout? Why not just weigh on each separately?.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 2 дня назад
I suppose the lower ones will be subject to a higher pre-loading. But anyway, I noticed that the MantaBrew differed slightly compared to the Timemore, also when just weighing portafilters on each scale. So, they deviate slightly. But who knows, maybe the MantaBrew is the accurate one, and the Timemore is off. I don't have a calibration weight to check. Cheers!

@@TomsCoffeeCorner By the way the wooden knob has come off the handle of the Kingrinder I bought about the same time as you… because it needs to be”turn” when hand grinding I cannot see how to fix it, other than that it still grinds ok but the knob flies off now and then which is annoying 👍🏻

if you want to test and calibrate scales I'd suggest you use some euro coins, as their weights have to be really specific and are small enough to test fractions of grams.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 2 дня назад
I tried that, and they seem to fluctuate just a little. Like some are bang on, but a few are 0.1 grams off. Don't know if it's due to something with the coin, or with the scale's sensitivity.
@fgmenth
@fgmenth 2 дня назад
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I usually use 1€ coins where I know it weighs exactly 7,5g. I've noticed that most scales are precise when the coin is placed exactly in the middle, but it fluctuates when it's placed on the sides. If the scale is good it won't fluctuate no matter where you place it.

Great review! What an interesting & unique scale. Would you be interested in reviewing the New Normcore V3 scale? It’s a $59 nano scale with all aluminum construction and an angled screen that I have only ever seen on one of the Timemore’s. It’s rechargeable of course with a larger than typical battery and comes with a precision weight to check calibration as well as a quality protective carrying case. It was only released last month and it looks quite promising but I haven’t seen a single review of it yet. Further more there aren’t any reviews of it on Amazon either. This seems like a real contender at this price point and from a reputable albeit entry level brand… just a thought, perhaps people would be interested in seeing your thoughts on this one as well. Much love from Boston ❤☕
