Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. I lurk more than I comment because I am here mostly to listen & learn, but thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge!
@jgknick Thank you so much for watching, I just know that when I was starting out collecting there was no place to get any info on pressings or sound quality except for the old bitter snobs on chat forums arguing back and forth forever...At least I had Arthur Salvatore!
Great video, very interesting and a piece I've been listening to a lot lately. I too have all three of your top picks and though I haven't come to a conclusion, your comments seem to line up with mine. Thanks for all the work you put into this one!
@ThePressingMatters For me the de Burgos just has all the blood, guts, passion, and humanity that I love in music. The Ansermet is so beautiful sounding I could see myself having a wonderful nap in my listening chair while listening...except it's 45 so I would have to wake up every 7 minutes and flip it!
Really looking forward to this ! I have the D2D Mazel amazes, the Everest magnetic tape recordings have great dynamics because of the recording technology, the originals had variable vinyl, so reissues makes sense, will look out for the ÁP reissues thx for tip ! Agree the R de B EMI recording is dynamically amazing, have a few originals which are excellent and agree with more midhall perspective , the thwacks of the orchestra are OMG and de Los Angeles’s singing fits like a glove agree totally
@andrewawsmone4637 For me the EMI just has the hot blood, guts, sweat, and humanity! It feels the most authentic to me. Can't wait to hear the rest of the AP Everest, The ones I have already heard are stellar!
Thanks. That was helpful.I have all three of the top choices though I haven’t listened to the Everest or the EMI in awhile. After watching this, I think I will. Certainly the decca/ London is wonderful. So too, the Everest. Looking forward towards giving the EMI a listen. It’s too bad that we haven’t had more EMI reissues. Alto wasn’t in business that long and many of the Hi-Q releases were not great. We can only hope!
