It's #MoMonday!
Get ready folks, Mo Pinel has a Pro Sect and a grease pencil, it's time to draw a lot of lines! In this tutorial, Mo will show you how you can use an existing ball in order to map out the layout for a new ball to best complement what you have.

Great Video Mo, full of useful Info, I need a little bit of concentration to grab the different layouts and reactions

Mo in your video you said PSA in the thumb hole is the sharpest break point (strongest reaction?) yet in your video "Effective Modern Layouts w/ Mo Pinel - Volume 1" you said PSA in the thumb is the softest reaction. I'm confused on reaction at the break point and the location of the PSA, can you explain the 3 different PSA position vs break point reaction? I've watched several of your video's and always thought the weakest position for the PSA was in the thumb hole.

PSA in the thumb hole is the weakest.

This is one of the more confusing videos you have made...that ball has so many lines on it it looks like a world map

Would request for a strong backend layout (for heavy oil pattern) as I am more of a skid-snap style player and use boards 7 to 15 with target from 5 to 10 depending on oil conditions. My PAP is 5 & 7/8Up. Speed of avg 13 (reduced it due to lumbar pain issues), Rev around 200. Requesting for a layout. Once you would suggest a layout, would I be able to use the same layout on weaker balls for dry/medium lane condtions? Thanks

Confused on drilling angle and symmetrical balls. According to the dual angle technique you draw a line from pin to cg when mapping out the drill angle. Has that changed? Maybe a mo Monday can expand on the differences for laying out a symmetrical ball vs a asymmetrical?

Great video. What happens if i put the psa right under my thumb?
@RadicalBowling
@RadicalBowling 4 года назад
Not much difference than having it in the thumb, but you're likely moving the pin lower and increasing the VAL angle in the process.

I thought the PSA affected how long the skid phase is. Mo is saying PSA controls the shape of the breakpoint. Can you elaborate on which one is correct?

Surface mostly affects how long the skid phase is. PSA and VAL will help control the length of the hook phase and the shape at the break point.

Question if I knew none of this information and I went to get a ball drilled how can I expect that the pro shop guy is going to do right by me for instance I just had three balls drilled all he did was measure my hand and asked me if I want to pin up her pin down should I be worried
@baliktad8
@baliktad8 Год назад
Yes, he should have watched you bowl so he could get you PAP, approximate ball, approximate rev rate, your axis rotation and axis tilt.

I've never had a ball drilled to my pap,axis rotation,tilt.... How much I'm I missing

If you put the pin an inch away from your ring finger. You get max flare. Pin up make it skid more. Pin down makes it skid less and more stable. You sacrifice ball end reaction. Pin up delays hook. Giving you more angle into pins

@@MrPottsTeaching I was speaking of drill to my bowler specs, not layout differences

today's game is very technical when it comes to ball setups. The more you know about your particulars the better you can fine tune your layouts. If you're only playing on a typical hoise shot you likely aren't missing that much as long as the patterns are "close enough". But every shop operator really is falling down on the job if they di not at least offer a more technical drill. I haven't been active for about 17yrs but i see the value in getting the mist you can using the new data points....why not these balls are not cheap plus if you want yo hit tournaments having a set of gear covering various conditions matters. If your gear is more accurately setup the physical side of your game becomes easier yo address. Meaning ya can't blame the ball... dang it! hahaha

You could probably raise your average by having the ball drilled for you. Rather than working to make the ball work, the ball should just be working for you right off of your hand. I highly recommend talking to you proshop professional or finding one that you can trust, and have them to watch you throw a few shots before having them drill a ball for you. When my proshop guy #BKFDoubleStopProShop with #DavidSchweigler asked to see me bowl and drilled balls according to my numbers, I bowled my first 300 and (3) 800 series and my average went from 190's to 230 in one of my leagues. I believes it also builds your confidence in your game and equipment. In short, find out your numbers from a GOOD proshop professional and have them drill accordingly.

@@MrPottsTeaching putting the pin 1 inch from the ring to get max flare will depend upon the individual bowler’s PAP. If the bowler’s PAP horizontal distance is around 5 inches, them yes that will give you pretty close to max flare. What if the bowler’s PAP horizontal distance is 3 to 4 inches? From experience that will put the pin too close to the PAP to warrant max flare.
