Maptun Strut Brace Install on My Saab 9-3! 

It's a great addition I did to my 2008 9-3 Aero about 8 years ago. Made a surprising positive difference... And a hell of a lot more fun on mountain, twisty roads!

My mechanic (master Saab tech) recommended I keep the engine cover off permanently. This was a few years ago after I went through two ECUs in six months. I also installed a spacer kit, but I figure better safe than sorry. It doesn't look as nice, but my ECU is still working.

Good little mod dude! I have the same strut brace on my 05 aero (stage 3+) and I love it. You should definitely do a under hood detail though, looks like she could really use it.😉

Oooh, just got Maptun S2 last year on my b204 9-3 CV. Strut brace may be next, seems a minor mod for so much improvement. ETA: How did I not know 9/3 is 9-3 Day, or everyday for me.😎

The fact that you do not have to bolt it to the firewall, is an indicator of how much better the NG chassis is vs the OG. My brace on the viggen has bolts into that firewall, and still jiggles worse than even my linear NG. Of course I bought it to be pinned in the seat, not for it's lack of cornering prowess. 😄 I will say the NG vert chassis is also very stiff, especially on the Aero. My Arc vert chassis handling was light years better than the vig, even th9ough the vig has strut, subframe, steering rack and 1" rear sway bar braces. Lol.

My 2001 Viggen comes with an original standard strut brace, and I was surprised to see your Saab doesn't have one, is that right?

Wish I were able to install one of these but 1) Maptun is sold out. 2) being an '06 Aero 2.8 vert, their site says it interferes with the coolant tank.😞

How you doing? Love your ads about saabs I've learned a lot from you. I have a 2006 93 Saab.. got it at 103 thousand miles. It's tight it's quick and it's extremely fun. Whoever owned it took good care of it didn't even smoke inside.. I have to ask you a question.. 5 days after I bought it I pressed the button on my shifter and it disintegrated in my hand the button fell off the silver part fell off and I didn't know what to do. I've watched your videos of how to get the shifter knob on and off very simple but I don't know where to find a shifter knob ...maybe you have one...??? Other than a little roughness going over bumps, my car is quiet as a church... You would like it. If you have any information on shift or knobs I would really appreciate it thank you

SMS website states that the brace is possible on my 09 aero convertible but may put some pressure on the coolant reservoir. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
