Marc, just wanted to tell you...I was new to watching hockey when you scored the OT game winning goal in the playoffs. That was the exact moment that I realized that hockey was fucking awesome. Now I play hockey myself in women's league, and I have number 91 just because that was the day my life changed.
This is pretty awesome. As a kid growing up playing ice hockey and being obsessed with it (I'm 30 now). I would of LOVED to have a video series to watch about all the little things like this. PLEASE keep doing more of these!
Thanks Marc! My kid loves taping his stick he'll enjoy this video. I have to admit the toe was always the hardest for me to get perfect and you just made it look easy.
Damn 20 years ago as a kid I went to every Hartford Wolf Pack game. You were my favorite player on that team and I actually were #10 to this day because of those days lol. Nice to see these videos.
Marc.. I don't usually comment or like any videos and just browse through the videos, but I just want to take the time and say you're an inspiration to all athletes. I've suffered a concussion getting a clapper to the dome and know how bad it can get. Keep up the videos, good stuff!
Thanks for making the video Marc! Now my son wants me to find skinny tape. They don't have that at Canadian Tire. I hope you continue with your taping twig installments!
Now I really wish I played hockey! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the game in such a unique way. I'd love to see you come back to Boston in some capacity. Glad to see you doing well
Marc this is great. Seems like this is something you could make a series of like you said (Matthews, Gretzky, Panarin, etc. tape jobs) it would be something that's really interesting and you're pretty good at narrating at it
Love the video. Keep them coming! Please go through why guys do certain things (taping the whole shaft, cutting the stick, cutting the toe - examples include Ryan O'Reilly and Brad Marchand) - Thanks!
1. Did Gretzky tell you how he taped his twig? How do you know? 2. How do you keep snow from building up on the blade? Slap it on the ice? Wipe it with your glove? Wax it? 3. More videos please!
I saw a season ticket holder your first year with the bruins and me and my father used to go down on occasion to Ristuccia Arena few times a year mostly during pre season. We had the chance to buy a pair of your gloves from them at one point. Super cool custom pads along the fingers. You certainly had a way with gear. I assume you added the pads because you got your hands hit a lot in the face-offs? Speaking of hands and face-offs I'd like to think you are a big part of the reason for the current rule about not being able to put your hand on the puck during draws. You were the king of tying the other guy up and then putting your glove down and pushing the puck back with your hand. Glad to see you doing a gear series. I personally love to see your take on things relating to the game.
Here's an idea that may bode well for Savvy, one of the best puck handlers, vids of practicing stickhandling with ping balls balls. I think Doug Weight did it, as did others. Seems that if you can control a ping pong ball with a hockey stick, one can develop a fine touch with the puck...
Just want to say Hi Mark just looking at your site here on you tube after you mentioning it on SN1 talking to my Fav guy on the Leafs today Nazm Kadri but being a Clark fan forever as a Leaf fan forever as well......Any way the reason I am writing in here is about the taping twigs. Me being born in 65, I want to mention another fav player Patrick Kane actually tapes his stick exactly the way I taped mine. And I find that so cool that someone as good and important to the N.H.L.as he is, copies me....lol cause I am older then him.....kidding Kane......Just to say Mark I am now going to be a follower of your site!!! Awesome and nice to see ya . Ray Pierce
I like this tape job protects the stick well and gets the job done the only thing is it looks a little dorky I use the ovi becaue the sticks i use have that tacky stuff and a soft heal built in
Hi Savard, I love these tape jobs. Since "hockey is for everyone", please show some goalie stick jobs, I am requesting a Petr Mrazek tape job, lol also if you do a Hasek tape job, make sure you have a lot of tape :-P
Hey Marc, I never got to watch you play but I heard you were a beast. I’m bet if you were able to play today without any concussion I bet you would be Boston’s number 1 center
Damn.. I just remember watching him on the Rangers and being absolutely excited to have a (then) young guy like him on the team. And then he got traded :( We really didn't get much from him, but damn he turned out to be a great playmaker.
It's 2018 and Marc savard is making RU-vid videos. I love it but I wish he was still playing and able to retire on his own terms and not because of injuries #respect✊
Marc!!!! Tape jobs? Really!!! Go put your skates on and open that picture frame with your 91 Jersey on...and I like to say is very nice I have your jersey still in my closet..I miss seeing you out there my dude...wow I really wish you were playing right now with this team stacked with talent bruins would definitely be number 1 overall to win the LORD STANLEY'S CUP.....but besides wishing i hope your healthy with all the concussion stuff? And great video you got my like and subscription
