Marcel Marceau had an interesting life. Before he was famous, he resisted the Nazis by saving Jewish children while his own life was in danger. Although it isn't well known, Marcel and his cousin Georges and many others organized a French resistance group centered around saving children. This is a wonderful and interesting video, full of a lot of lesser known information. Watch it and see and put in the Comments section what you think of it!

I studied with Marcel Marceau. That was the seventies. He was 57 and an amazing athlete. He made himself available to all my questions. He was nice to my future wife. He said my technique was very good, but I didn't know how to play an audience. That was right on. He never spoke of his Resistance work. I learned about that later. Marceau could make an audience of 5,000 cry. He was more than a brilliant mime; He made theatre. He made beauty. He made magic. I am ever grateful, Mr. Marceau. RIP

I saw this wonderful man in Melbourne on a school excursion in the 60's.The teacher who organised it was a fan.I had to ask my mum if I could go & she took the money from her purse immediately. At the show I was spellbound,& it felt like I was the only one there.Marvelous.My mum told me later of a child she had met at the very end of the war.The child would only speak French & my mum was fluent. It seems that little girl was helped by a man who was later known as Marcel Marceau.

It's amazing to see what ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances can accomplish. Amongst the appalling inhumanity of the war people stood up to do what they could. Hats off to all these people.

Dad helped liberate Dachau where he took our family in 1964 to see the gas chambers and barracks. My Jewish husband took us to Israel in 1981 where we saw Yad Vashim with thousands of photos that were far worse visuals. Staying at a kibbutz we saw little old women with arm tattoos from other concentration camps. We saw Marcels show in Los Angeles in 1963.

@EmersusTech just focus on making ur audio cuts close together so u dont have akward silence before it cuts to the next audio clip, also smoother transitions and scene clips

Just saw the movie Resistance on TV , it was about how Marcel Marceau helped children escape Nazi occupied France

Linda, yes, I haven't seen that movie yet, but I saw reference(s) to it while doing research for this video. Sometimes movies are mostly correct, but they take "artistic license" in order to "smooth the plot" out. One day, I'll probably watch the movie. Thanks for your input!

beritbranch2436, sorry, but I don't understand your comment. Are you writing that you are related to the hotel manager and singer in Port-au-Prince?

beritbranch2436, thanks for the clarification. I was trying to figure out how a Haitian hotel manager had anything to do with anything, but now I understand! Thanks for the comment!
