NEW MARETU SONG GUYS LETS GOOOO! I have a 2 hour road trip in 30 minutes but idc, Maretu is love, Maretu is life so I speed ran making you guys the translation as usual!
Take the translation with a grain of salt since I am not 100% fluent! This is also not a direct word for word translation as I took liberties to change the portrayal of certain words to be understood better and interpreted a specific way
I do NOT own this song, all credit to Maretu! • 【初音ミク】 エンゼル92 【オリジナル】
Additional Notes/Word Meanings:
-Beretta 92: A brand of revolver gun
-Chaka: Could likely a direct reference to the “Chakra” wheel which refers to different energy points in your body. One point of reference I want to mention is the “Third Eye Chakra” which I feel is what the MV and lyrics might be referring to
-Coquettishness: flirtatious behavior
-I’ve been looking into the Japanese theories and some say some symbols and lyrics might represent drugs so you could possibly interpret the song along those lines
-The voice in the background says “Suki desu ka” which translates to “Do you like it?”
-It’s pointed out that points of the song reference old Maretu songs! Time stamps posted below for when the potential references occur!
0:29 Tehamint: In the song, the repetition of “Pollution, Revolution, Education, Domination” is used in the chorus. The use of Revolution and Education as words in this song could likely be a reference to it
0:49 Taste of a Cockroach: It’s already heavily implied Taste of a Cockroach has the setting of a school with the song centered around the bullied becoming the bully which is labeled as “hypocrisy” in Angel 92
0:56 Koukatsu: Pig’s skull (Koukatsu’s MV references a pig skull)
1:27 White Happy: The song mentions how the narrator wants to be “taken away” so in a way, the line in Angel 92 is almost a direct response to White Happy as “I’ve come to take you away”
2:30 Pink/Even Though I Loved You: “I’m going to devour you”, mention of cannibalism similar to Pink/Aishiteita Noni
2:51 New Darling: The final line of “Try me” is delivered and similar in wording to New Darling’s “Play Me”
My Interpretation: Honestly??? This could be about Buddhism of some form?? I can definitely get those vibes both from the imagery and the lyrics. What abt it exactly? Who knows but I think it relates to religion pretty heavily. Additionally, with the mention of a revolver, perhaps it’s about someone who believes a god or deity is telling them that killing themself is the only true salvation?
What’s your theories? Comment them below! I’d love to hear them!
