This is golden! Margot's portrayal is very natural and sublime. Back in the days where high extension and arabesque is not a commodity and wasn't seen as a stunt or acrobatic but more as an art in its physical form. Her pirouettes and balances in its finest. Thank you carles03❤️
This is more of the Money film than we have seen to date. Thanks Carles03. Fonteyn's Rose Adagio is so natural in its happiness, absolutely on the music all through (even in the balances which are treated as part of the dance rather than as a stunt on their own). The finish of all her movements is so beautiful. But the overall impression is one of joy.
What a relief! A choreography and a ballerina that are actually dancing to the music in the right tempo! I just came back from watching one of the modern Russians. Legs up there, blah, blah, blah. But the choreography had NOTHING with the music and the port de bra soft when the music requires sparkle. Thank the gods of video that we can watch Margot do it how it is supposed to be done!
After reading your comment, I have decided to upload the programme as it was broadcast on TV. It contains most of the I Act of Sleeping Beauty, I hope you like it!!
I was so surprised to find this as I've only seen an excerpt. Fonteyn continues to amaze me with her flawless performance...half angel...half human...a perfect mix...most dancers only give us human.
Joe Blitz As I already explained, it was shown on ITV in the early 90s. They found the reels of the whole of Act I in an attic and they restored them for broadcasting.
@caspa1951 Yes, in 1990 or 1991 they discovered most of Act I in a can in an attic. They restored it and showed it on TV. This is the entrance and rose adagio. There is no solo for Aurora, but the number for her attendants, the coda and the end of the act. I will try to upload it. Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, Fonteyn was radiant...
sedekiman r This was a programme called Beauty Restored, shown on ITV, I think, when they found the reels in an attic that contained the first act of a recording with Fonteyn. The recording showed the whole first act except the variation, but it had the Waltz, entrance, adagio, dance of Aurora's friends and coda and finale.
Dear Mr Lopez, it would help if your comment would be made in a more polite way. Saying "please" or "would you mind" would suffice. As for the aspect ratio, I'm afraid it uploaded as it is.
No, this was a filmed production that was never finished. They only got to record the first act and the reels went missing after the years. In 1990 they found these in an attic and they broadcast it on TV.
