Mari Moss Reflects on the 60th Anniversary of March on Washington 

Mari got involved with the NAACP when she was 8 years old, encouraged by her aunt for her and her friends to start a club. By 16, Mari’s group had officially started their own chapter of the NAACP. They traveled around the state in order to get elected for their youth chapter. Mari was elected to be Vice President for her state’s Youth Chapter. At that time, the 25th anniversary of the March on Washington was to take place and Mari had an opportunity to be a part of the occasion. As young leaders, it was an important moment because they realized not only were they participating in an historical event, but also continuing the spirit of an event that is both impactful and inspirational for future generations. Today, she upholds the legacy of Dr. King as she teaches her own daughter about this history.
