This compilation included a couple of short clips from the Madison Square Garden stop of her 1993 Music Box Tour, including clips of “Vanishing” and “All in Your Mind” - both songs from her debut album. This full performance of “Vanishing,” which only surfaced a couple years ago after nearly 30 years of only short clips from this tour, is my favorite performance of this song (which is also my favorite song of all time!) ever, replacing the (also amazing, iconic) SNL rehearsal performance. This is one if the few occasions she fully performed “All in Your Mind” as well. Both performances showcase the power, resonance, and unique, singular tone of Mariah’s voice. Indeed, this entire concert, which is available on RU-vid, is a great video to watch if you want to see Mariah’s voice in one of its earlier iterations. However, for reaction purposes, if you can only watch one of the performances, I’d suggest “Vanishing,” which, in my opinion, demonstrates Mariah at her most brilliant. It’s a vocal and emotional tour-de-force., an example of why she will go down as one of the greatest vocalist ever. Additionally, if you’re looking for more Mariah content, I’d also do suggest watching the 1996 Daydream Tour (Tokyo stop), as it is shows her voice at its most magical - the fluidity, clarity, tone, emotion…just everything is perfect lol.
