Although I'm a Red Sox fan, I have to say I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Sandman. Being the closer for the same team for 17 seasons is a feat in and of itself. Being the best at it year after year is another. Not letting it go to his head? Now, that's respectable. This man exemplified how all baseball players should be, and he will be remembered for decades (if not centuries) to come as one of the best players ever. As much as I detest the Yankees, I must admit I always loved to watch Mariano Rivera play the game, because he played it the right way.

Mo seemed to have the least success against the Sox, or close to. He blew the 2004 ALCS.
@iamhungey12345
@iamhungey12345 2 года назад
@@broadstreet21 You know he had gave up one earned run against the Red Sox that series right? It was the same amount in the 2003 series where he was the MVP. Plus saying that he blew the 2004 series was a bit misleading when he was actually among the least of the problems with how Gordon starts struggling at inopportune time in Game 5 which puts Mo in a position that would be difficult for any closers in general and the fact that the Yankees offense suddenly starts messing up scoring opportunities after Game 3. You made it sounds like he was the sole reason for the loss which is far from the truth.

Think about it this way... if he had an equally dominant offensive counterpart it would be someone who hits a homerun on almost every at bat. Man. I miss this guy. An extremely bittersweet moment as a Yankee fan, incredibly thankful for him but was devastated at the thought of the team without him. So lucky to have been able to watch this man.

No question EVER Mo is the greatest baseball player ever hands down. I still get chills every time I here the start of entersandman. My 11 year old daughter has been playing that song since she was 4 her first word was dad second Mo third Jeter. Brought home from the hospital in a Yankees onesie. #YANKEESFANFORLIFE #GREATESTPLAYEREVER

Baseball has so many greats, it's impossible to name one GOAT. You can't even name the greatest to play at a particular position. Mariano Rivera is the only exception. He is the clear-cut best closer to ever play the game.
