I think Milton understood Marilyn and cared about her in a way that no one else did, including Lee and Paula Strasberg and Arthur Miller, who all wanted Milton out of the way. Amy has said that Milton was never the same after he was jettisoned from Marilyn's life, that he and Marilyn "needed" each other. I wish Marilyn had chosen Milton over the Strasbergs and Miller, but she sacrificed him to her marriage and her hope of becoming a great actress, failing to recognize that she already was one.
@@pennyblea2705 you people act like marilyn was the only person "used". its ridiculous. milton greene was a successful well established rich photographer before he met marilyn. he risked his career to smuggle her out of hollywood. he paid all her bills for the whole year she spent in new york discovering herself, while his lawyers worked with fox to get marilyn a $100,000 contract and more creative control over her movies. he almost went broke supporting her and she cut him out of her life.. it was probably the biggest mistake she made. and he's allowed to sell HIS work.
Yes, she really should have stayed with Milton... she would have been alive I imagine. The Strasbergs fed off of Marilyn's insecurity and anxieties, and sold her down the river once she died.
What a great interview - love this host! Josh - looks JUST LIKE HIS DAD and Mom is spectacular! A confident and classy lady. Photos are beautiful - capture "the true essence of Marilyn at her gifts" - the image, I feel, she would want to leave her fans and the world - Ignore the negative of the comments herein - Delight in the splendor of the beauty the photographer, his family, and Marilyn/the subjects - are giving to YOU! Bravo! 5* - all around! :-)
Marilyn may have had a film company with Milton Greene, but they parted ways after only 3 years because of Arthur Millers interference. Marilyn certainly never lived with them for 4 year's. She stayed at their home briefly in late 54 into part of 55. She was married by 56 to Miller and they had their own apartment on 57th Street, and a home in Connecticut. Before that Marilyn had a suite at The Waldorf-Astoria, and then her own apartment on Sutton Place.
Agreed. When Amy says in various interviews that she lived with them for 4 years, she's clearly exaggerating but you can see she's the kinda person that will say things to make herself appear more important. Not slamming her, it's just the way some people are. Just like the "Marilyn was intimidated by her", bit. I mean, you have your husband in a business partnership and constantly taking photos and traveling with THE most beautiful woman on the planet...she has to say something. I'm sure Marilyn might have said that in a fun kinda respectful way but let's be real, Marilyn was intimidated by no one. She didn't just fall off the turnip truck. She knew how powerful her beauty and image was and what it could get her.
I've seen a few interviews with Amy Greene. She has spoken about Marilyn and many high profile celebrities that were part of her and her husband, Milton's, world. The celebrities probably confided in them and the Greene's were likely leaned on a lot by these celebrities, especially Marilyn, given the business partnership she had with Milton. Was Amy jealous? Quite possibly but obviously not to the degree that most women would be. She allowed to have a grown woman living in her home with her husband and the woman also happened to be beautiful and young. Who would allow that situation to happen and it continued for 4 years? Most women would not agree to that arrangement regardless of how strong their marriages were.
I think it was lovely that the greens took Marilyn in. It was probably one of the only peaceful periods of her life. it kind of amazes me that no one has ever considered that perhaps both Amy and her husband were a bit in love with Marilyn, and maybe Marilyn was a bit in love with them. I have heard Amy speak about Maryland and living with her for those four years and she speaks very kindly, appreciatively, and compassionately of her as a human being, as an artist, and there's somebody who faced a lot of challenges because of her emotional scars and the fact that she lived in a World of people, especially men, who took terrible advantage of her and hurt her badly. I like these people.
People project their own narratives and insecurities onto Marilyn and her relationships with others. But there is a tv interview from the 50s you can find on youtube with Milton, Amy and Marilyn and Amy talks very fondly of Marilyn and says she's an amazing guest, and that she likes taking care of Milton, the baby, and Marilyn.
Milton Green and or Joe Dimaggio should have got Marilyn's estate, whoever runs it now is selling Marilyn off like she's just an image, she deserves so much more.
Zelda Zonkin' , it's Milton Greene not Joe. and yes thAt damn money should go to Marilyn Monroe's Only Real family not to these fake , awful people that pretend to care about Marilyn Monroe.
This Jealous Old Lady "Amy Greene" Never said anything nice about Marilyn Monroe and yet she keeps intruducing herself as Marilyn's best friend check her other interviews and you'll know what I'm talking about
I just watched a 45 min interview, not for televsion and there was no jealously, negativity, etc. She was basically shooting down what many have said of her that was bad. However, I can definitely see what it would look to most, seeing this clip. Her sense of humor, doesn't come across well, to me atleast, because my brain automatically thinks wealthy and cultured = a snobby b*tch. So I'm glad I seen the previous one first. Keyword: interview by Scott Feinberg, it's a small channel with 7.5 subscribers, worth digging around 4.
Amy is certainly "a type" and not the type I want to be around. I like oxygen. That said, she's always been "straight forward' when talking about Marilyn and I have never found it negative. But I know nothing about nothing.
Wife murdered MM with lethal injection? Monroe was found dead a day earlier when she was leaving on vacation with Milton Green the following day. The old lady’s father was MMonroe’s psychiatrist isn’t this weird. He was with MM at her home for hours when she passed away. Listen to this old cuban lady’s hatred in her voice when talking about MM. You figure it out in seconds who did it. Poor Marilyn. RIP beautiful little girl.
She seemed to have a genuine affection for Marilyn herself though. There is a TV interview with all three of them (Milton, Marilyn and Amy) from the 50s you can find on youtube.
Joshua Greene looks like his dad. Really. People were nicer back in his parents' time. We didn't see much of the "stars" except in News Reels, and magazined, on the screen, No selfies and that was better.
It's my take that Marilyn stayed with the Greenes almost like she wanted to be around the functional parents that she never had. Dysfunction is a killer when left unchecked.
It's nice to see Amy and Joshua carry on Milton's prolific work. Amy inspired and helped style Milton's shoots. Amy's, view of Marilyn is refreshing and much more dependable- that is that Marilyn was no victim.
Aubrey Caraballo - She had an apartment in the city also, so the year and a half was probably before she got the apartment. After that, she still went to the Greene’s place often.
I watched an interview of the three at the farmhouse, I sensed Amy's direct personality. I too thought she probably bullied Marilyn, but if that were the case Marilyn wouldn't have stayed for four years. Maybe Marilyn was familiar with the disconnect of Amy's personality and her own. Maybe Amy reminded Marilyn of her own mother.
@sweetjeane I think you miss interpting victim. Amy is saying that she was someone who suffered on purpose. Saying someone is not a victim is a good thing. She is defending her.
Old skinny bat had to be aggressive because a beautiful superstar was around. Should have nothing to do with Marilyn. Your husband was the ride that brought MM in you were just the passenger in the back hitchhiking.
