Two items that I think will generate instant reactions...bringing up Michael Harris & Bringing up the Mets and Baty...I address it in the video, but let me also do so here: -I know the Braves don't trade young players who sign extensions, I talk about that and the reason for including him. Certainly the Braves would want to find a way to be at the table for Gilbert or Kirby & all of their young proven bats are locked up...they'd be in an interesting position. -I know Baty carries the lowest value of the players mentioned, the Mets would have to make it a high level prospect package along with him...the other players I bring up could be THE centerpiece in a trade. I wanted to include the Mets because they'd certainly be motivated to deal for one of the 3 Mariners starters.
Nice to see someone putting up realistic names. Fans from other teams think they are going to give up 3 mid prospects for one of Seattle's pitchers, not going to happen.
If the M's actually traded any of their starting pitchers they are absolutely going to be looking for someone to overpay. Pretty sure they would want some current big league impact bat as well as some top prospects.
Why? Snell is a very good pitcher. He's not worth 200 million dollars, but if they can get him. For a sensible contract and you're a Mariners fan, you should be happy

If the Mariners trade anyone I wouldn't be surprised if Descalfani and either Woo or Miller are traded. I could honestly see a Woo and Descalfani or a Miller and Descalfani to the Twins for Polanco and a few prospects. Something similar to the Arraez trade when they got prospects back as well as Lopez. Full trade would be Twins get Anthony Descalfani and Bryce Miller(or Bryan Woo depending on who the twins like better) for Jorge Polanco, #7 twins prospect Tanner Schobel, and #9 pitcher David Festa
While I agree with your take about who the Mariners would trade, I don't believe it would just be Polanco and prospects. As Hollander stated, teams want MLB help. This would apply especially to them. The Twins #7 prospect would be in the same place as Bliss. They can't afford to wait for that help. Otherwise, they'd just roll with Bliss and not trade a starter. I think it'd be a much different kind of trade. Marlins get: Woo or Miller/Haggerty/Adcock Mets get:Desclafani/Thornton/Trammell/Hancock Mariners get: Arraez/Soriano/Myers/Houser/Taylor Sign Snell and another triple a starter for backup, and we're ready to roll.
You have to remember Jerry Dipoto is all about pitching! He aint letting go of Kirby. He spent a long time trying to aquire Castillo, he aint goin anywhere. Gilbert maybe but it woukd take a huge package as you have discussed. It comes down to Miller and Woo.

I'd be trading Woo of Miller plus change for Gorman or Marte. thats the only ones that make any sense. We aren't giving up our elite 3 no matter what. the goal would be to overwhelm the Opposition. Castillo..... Snell....Kirby...... Gilbert.... and Miller. Trade woo, a reliever, and a 10-15 prospect for gorman or Marte.
I love you Jim, but I got to say there is very little chance the Braves move MHIII. He's a local kid who they got locked up to a dirt cheap contract for over half a decade. He is an elite defensive center fielder and an above average bat at the plate with some nice speed as well. That is wayyyyy harder to come across than a #2 or #3 starter.

Marte for Castillo. When they where traded for each other before the Mariners didn't know what they already had in Gilbert and Kirby and the Reds didn't know Della Cruz was going to be great
I also think that we could trade a pitcher like Byran Woo Or Byrce Miller For a Good but not amazing bat. Im thinking someone like brendon Donovan Or maybe like James outman. Just a 1 for 1 trade
If they trade either kirby or gilbert and get some offensive help and some young pitching, that looks to be almost major league ready. That helps the team if they also sign Snell. They definitely could use some offensive help
Castillo and Kirby aren't going anywhere. Gilbert to Tampa for Randy and prospects sounds like a maybe. I do like that Dodgers trade. Woo or Miller will get moved if we sign Snell. That's probably a more realistic set of trades to look at. I think the Ms can get Gleyber for a reliever so I don't want Snell and would keep our rotation. But I also think Ownership wants the Hometown kid so Dipoto has been shuffling chairs to make sure Blake has a seat. So whatever we get in return has to be a major difference maker.
Actually Morel for Castillo I’m actually not apposed to if it’s just a 1 for 1 as much as I like the guy as a Cubs fan but the Cubs need a pitcher like Castillo and seems to be the way the Cubs would get that done they aren’t give up their best prospects

Orioles fan. I have been hesitant to offload prospects for guys like Cease, Burnes, etc mainly because of only having them for a year or two. But for Kirby or Gilbert, yeah, I'm all in on that one. My only caveat would be I'd prefer to send back a current big leaguer as part of the deal in addition to prospects. Someone like Austin Hays, Ryan Mountcastle. I just hate to empty the farm. Of the three, Kirby is the one I want, with Gilbert a close second. Kirby for Hays, Connor Norby, Colton Cowser, Jud Fabian?
MLBTV has package for Kirby that as a massive underpay... short about $50 million in player valuation. That package would get to you closer to Gilbert and likely land you Castillo. Problem is that the M's are engaging in talks because teams are expected to overpay in this market. You need to overpay.
You'd be insane to want to keep Kirby over Harris if you are a mariners fan. You guys got ton of pitching and a weak outfield outside of Julio. With Harris you get an elite defensive center fielder who will consistently give you a WRC+ from 115-125 with 4-5 WAR every season. Oh and he is under control for over half a decade! It's simple, move JR to right field and now you have an elite outfield.
@@adu3830 insane is an overstatement. Kirby is likely to be a Cy Young candidate in coming years and why trade the top of the rotation when they can get very good players to fill their offensive woes by trading from the bottom of their rotation. Miller and Woo would return a very very good package.

Twins *said* they're looking to trade for a starter, they're a short shot - this is probably one of three teams they expected to trade with at the beginning of the season. That being said, they have comencerate value in Julien or Lee available. They'd need to send a pitcher like Rodriguez or Festa or SWR or others, maybe two. Lewis is untradable after breaking the curse and the Mariners *should* want a hitter and a pitcher for any of these guys, so while I appreciate the attempt, that's....I don't to say incompetent, but you ignored the Twins the last 5-6 times you looked at starter trades, so I'm going to have to say I competent work where the Twins are concerned because you've clearly not looked through the top of their system really at all.
Why would M’s want snell? Snell is Robbie Ray 2.0. Castillo, Kirby, and Gilbert I find to be better pitcher than snell. I don’t want a pitcher who walks 100 batters a season

I get that the Braves farm is empty there’s no way on God’s green earth AA would trade Harris. Lack of a comparable replacement and there’s no way AA would way overpay for a player. Harris just has too much control attached.

Well, that's why they are looking at adding pitchers...to add hitters. They sign Snell, then they can trade one of their pitchers (most likely Woo or Miller) to get hitters.
